All military bases are gun free zones with only the military police being armed. Even if you have a CCL you can not carry a gun on base, You can even store you personal gun in your quarters.

It was reported that had armed security off duty police officers regularly on Friday and Saturday nights but this premier was late on a thursday

I have no idea if he knew guards would be there or not as other theaters did have them at the remixer in that area

I also don't know if it would have stopped him as they said he bought a ticket and went in with the crowd then had to have gone out and exit or something to get his gear and sneak back in

No doubt the perps plan and prepare while its the victims caught off guard no pun intended.

I used to have an Ithica Mod. 37. You could hold the trigger down and cycle the pump action and they would slam fire. I could load 5 rounds in it and fire all 5 in about 6-7 seconds. Using 00 buck thats 45 .32 cal balls headed down range in a dense pattern. Depending on the range you could cover a room easily.

Must be. Some kind of a government plot

What's different about it, dead is still dead and war does not justify the killing of innocents!

Texas gun laws have stopped lots of crimes. Crime rates drop in every state that adopts concealed carry. Criminals think twice if they think someone might be armed. We had a burglar lock his self in the bathroom and called 911 to come and get him because he was afraid the home owner would shoot him. The last time I renewed my permit I heard the 911 tape of a man who called the police while two guys with a crowbar broke into the home next door. He took a shotgun and killed both of them when the came out of the house. He was no billed. In Texas the laws protect honest citizens being able to protect their life and property

Maybe they will find out the common link between all the shooters is they spent too much time posting on offbeat before they went off the deep end.

Speaking of which I've wasted most of the afternoon here so time for me to go before it makes me paranoid and crazy.

I believe Oki said this theater was out of his way and he went there because they banned concealed carry. In a way concealed carry can be better than an off duty cop. With CCL you never know who or how many around you are armed. In Texas we have about 500,000 CCL

If the NRA and many in Congress really gave a damn about (we the ppl )instead of lining the pockets of the rich they would be part of the conversation and not fighting against it.
Do I think this was a hoax, hell no, I have a neighbor who was a relative to one of the children killed.
The NRA wants you to believe all this garbage because it promotes gun and ammo sells, registration for the NRA ,donations for them so they can endorse their REP canidates...ha, they lost their azz on this last election...
Then you have Fox News, Rush Limblah blah blah and others insighting panic in gulliable ppl who think black hawk heli's are coming to your home to take your weapons.
All I can do is laugh at the ignorance of ppl who believe all this and shake my head because all it's doing when you listen to Rand Paul and some of the others is see what radical extremist these ppl are and how they need to be voted out of office..
*** applauding effusively *** and REAL props to you -- not "game", or icons. I've at the last post of the first page, and all your posts -- especially this one -- make me proud to be a "neighbor" of yours and stand with the other reasonable peeps from the Great Lakes states.

And I just learned about the sick NRA ad about the Obama kids released just before Obama signed the Exec. Orders today. It's an official stance, but pre-empted by some of the looney whackos posting on these threads in recent days. They must have gotten advance notice.

I think "we the people" might be at the tipping point to slap down this looney-tick lobby and the fringe element of their leadership and that part of their membership.

Rally up dudes and dudettes!!

BTW; I'm a gun owner for home defense in a rural county. That and phones and neighborly folk in this 'hood will suffice 'til the arm of the law arrive. The NRA doesn't protect me.

<quoted text>Anytime people commit heinous acts the public accepts they were crazy but what factor is making young white males crazy and choosing to act in this particular way?
Why isn't it males are even females in their thirties or forties too?
Why is it white males?
There is something else going on besides individuality or available weapons.
Perhaps the better question would be is "how many of these acts were committed by people on anti-depressants?"

If that's the guy I remember, that was about the 3rd time he was going to be on camera. The FIRST time he fully explained how he felt and perceived what happened; and my take on all that of the first interview of that guy was that he was a type to be "Zen-ish" about it.

But one handgun is enough for that purpose in my opinion and any additional weapons for sport or hunting should be locked away.
I don't know, I was raised in a house with a loaded shotgun at the ready
We were taught to leave it alone, that it was dangerous but we were also taught to shoot at a young age and to respect guns. We weren't raised by paranoid butters either so maybe that's the difference.
It is reasonable to speculate 3 of those weapons were "safed", but one -- say a pistol -- was out for overnight or for immediate defense. That one was all he needed to kill her, and knowing how to access the rest for the school.

I wonder if this had been a child or grandchild of yours would you still feel this way. It's not a liberal or a conservative issue it's an American issue at the moment. It's about taking responsibility for our arms and making safe choices so maybe this insanity will never happen again.
It's not about taking our guns and to be honest if stricker gun laws would safe a baby, a family or a community from this I'd give up all my guns Denny...

<quoted text>Those were very young kids in the Amish shooting too. Gun dealers are just selling a tool. There might be more children save by a gun in the right hands. I have never seen anything like this. These so called assault rifles have doubled in price and all the ammo is gone. I bought a bolt action.223 and I can't find ammo to sight it in. The rush to buy ammo is good common sense. New York now requires a back ground check to buy ammo. To get a CCL in NY it can take a year or more. Can you imagine taking a year to buy shells or a year to sell my own rifle to someone
Can ya feel it coming?
