The vast majority of violent crimes are committed by criminals with no carry permit. Carry permit holders are in general very definition of law abiding good citizens. There are some bad apples, and these statistics do not tell the whole story. The jokers that tried to do wrong are rightfully being prosecuted, that is the system working. Many, many firearms are used every day, without breaking the law, many cases of lives saved, rapes prevented, maulings halted, robbery thwarted. The VPC skews, slants, deceives and outright lies in its publications and presentation of stats. 65 million plus legal gun owners, 114 incidents nationwide since 2007? Chicago gun control coupled with inept police and a pervsive no snitchin' policy. Gun control is racist, the vast majority of victims are Black, and more than 25% go unsolved. Of course some were killed with bare hands, blunt instruments, knives, nunchucks, rocks, two by fours with nails sticking out as well as by illegal guns- very few(if any?) are the rifles that the Grabbers are all hot and bothered about. The bad guys have magazines that carry more than 7 rounds, and they are topped off too. They seem to ignore the murder laws too for some reason. And the drug laws. I take offense to your comments as I in no way want to gloat over the death of anyone especially one of our troops..So that is an unfair and untrue statement.

My dad was Army, Then Air Force where he retired and then joined the reserves.

The point is so called good guys kill good guys.. Teachers can snap and kill a classroom of children.

DA'S can be shot in parking lots a block from their work.

And children can be slaughtered and something needs to be done..

It is not the so called "right wing extremists" robbing, raping and murdering in Chicago. Or in Los Angeles. Or in Rochester, NY. The point Mr. LaPierre very astutely made, is that elitists and their families get protection of armed guards, while all the average citizen shlubs do not get protected, they get disarmed. Rosie O'Donell has armed security, but she is a huge anti-gun zealot, and I do mean huge. Media Matters own anti-gun zealot David Brock was protected with illegal guns, using the groups funds to buy them illegally, without proper permits, carried in gun free zones, etc. You seem to have missed the whole boat. We should protect our precious children at least half as good as we protect our cash and gold, we protect that stuff with.......guns! I encourage everyone that has questions about firearms, seek out an NRA certified instructor or other highly qualified person. If you want to buy a firearm, do your research, do it legally, and get training in its use and enjoy! Some of my best memories are from sessions at the range or out in the field.
