Yeah, especially the Hollyweird types. Now they're all leaving because Obama is taxing them into oblivion.

I think Snarky is Geno, but he might share that profile with Slack, seeing as how they share everything else (underwear, bodily fluids, etc. et al).

I'm not surprised at all his life has been threatened..
What's that other thread say?
Live by the Sword, Die by the Sword..
Sounds right to me.
The thing is much of the gun control legislation really won't be very effective at lowering gun violence. Assault rifles are only used in about 4% of homicides ... shot guns in about 4%... some involve other weapons, but the majority involve handguns. So how much will an assault rifle ban accomplish? Also, in many settings someone can do just as much damage with couple handguns and extra clips.

Universal background checks? Good at preventing criminals from getting guns, who aren't allowed to have them, but not so good at preventing mental nut jobs, like the guy in Connecticut, from acquiring them. Medical records are confidential and absent the most extreme cases are not likely to show up in any background check. If the laws are relaxed to make it easier for psychiatrists/psychologists to revel information, fewer folks will receive medical treatment for mental issues, especially paranoid types who tend to be involved in these shootings.

Basically, most of the legislation being brandished about is feel good, knee jerk type stuff.

I don't have a problem with a universal background checks. I just don't think it will do anything to stop events such as happened in Connecticut. An assault rifle ban isn't going to do much of anything either. It's not like a pscycho is going to say, "I was really dead set on massacring a bunch of people today, but since I can't use my favorite assault rifle from my favorite movie Rambo, I think I'll go to the library and read a romance novel instead and then maybe get some Thai for dinner, yum, that's my favorite!"

There are just so many soft targets that a person can select. For example, that nut that kidnapped that kid and held him in a bunker, even with all these laws that are in the mix, what would stop someone like him from doing the same thing, except killing every kid on the bus? He doesn't need an assault rifle to do this.

If we really want to get serious about lowering death rates and preventing massacres, instead of ineffective knee jerk reactions, we need to really think long and hard about what laws could actually make a difference. I'm not sure exactly what those would be, but it seems pretty obvious to me the ones being thrown about won't do much of anything.

For the record, I don't own guns and I never have.

I thank you for this reply.

Look I agree with you for the most part as I have said on previous post anyone can get a gun on Main St. America for the right price and if you know the right ppl.

I'm just saying we as a Nation should try something. It may not work but at least it was tried.

I am a gun owner and a registered owner.

Some of the things being said is just crazy and ppl are buying into it. But also as I have said. If some of the ones fighting so hard against any kind of gun control would just step back they would see who's winning here, who's getting their pockets lined and who has everything to gain with this fight.

Thank you Sublime.

My dad was Army, Then Air Force where he retired and then joined the reserves.
The point is so called good guys kill good guys.. Teachers can snap and kill a classroom of children.
DA'S can be shot in parking lots a block from their work.
And children can be slaughtered and something needs to be done..
And you're suppose to be X military....WOW.
You can be offended all you want. On many of the anti-gun threads I've read libs posting crap about how Kyle was a sh1thot Navy SEAL,armed and STILL got murdered by a NUTCASE. You could SEE the gloating in their faces as they posted. Using his killing to propagandize their misguided socialist agenda. Disgusting.

Canada's national gun registration scheme has been a complete and costly failure. It did nothing to curb gun violence. It cost far more than anticipated, well, the proponents of it lied, really. After the Liberals did so much damage in many sectors, Conservatives swept in and have begun to repair things and just look at the strength of the Canadian dollar! Conservatism works! Instead of a rock star prez, they got a no-nonsense conservative leader. Maybe we should try that too. Making law-abiding folks register their guns will not prevent the senseless tragedies any more than banning spoons will stop (Michelle Obama's War) obesity. Thankyou, and goodnight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Firearm...
