Happeeeeeeeeee FRYday patrons!!! I went for my oil change oil, and they took me early, and took longer then anticipated. Then they told me my bill was 158.00 dollars. WHAAAAAAAAT? I got a damn phone quote for $19.95. OHHH they had me mixed up with someone else. Black. Male. With a beard. Fat.(Yeah, I can see how that happens)Well, I am always signing autographs as people think I am Dennis Farina. It happens.

Good Day NM & Vee,

Very cold here, crowds in city
for Xmas shopping..

Yeah, V, one's better to get plenty quotes these
days - as everyone's out to make a quick buck!

Vee, I'd need a personal oil change to keep up
with the Christmas rush! lol

Happeeeeeee Saturday Grace and Nelly patrons. You are right about gettng quotes, Grace. Kind of hard to get ripped off on car oil changes as they have just a few doller differenes wherever you go. Did I tell you I found my best friend on Facebook after 5 years of searching. It has been almost 40 years since I saw her. Memories come flooding back. She even remembered one of my favoite songs.I looked for her on several different sites and finally my perserverance paid off.

Well,
That's such a lovely story to relate around Christmas,
Vee, so glad you found your friend,
things like that have NO price.

I spent most of yesterday looking for my Christmas
card list, with all different addresses etc on it

NO JOY.. the tormenting thing is,
I saw it on a shelf about a week ago and prob said
to myself, I'll put it away safe,
but as to where I DO NOT KNOW,
I often wish i was one of those organised
folks who can put their hand on ANYTHING when asked,
a drawer or place for everything..
I never learned to be like that, to my cost!

Is it busy where you are, the shops etc?

I think it is slightly less busy here,
the recession seems to be showing a little..

Anyhow, Christmas comes & goes, as we have all found
many years past LOL!

and we'll get over this one too!

Wishing you a restful Sunday Vee..

I dreamt last night about my father who is
dead for many years, how fantastically strange dreams
are [and wonderful in a way]

In the dream I was looking for my son,
my Dad suggested I should call in on my mobile phone
[or cell phone to USA folks]

well, when my father was around mobile phones were unheard of..
as was my son [unheard of] at THAT time,
yet all appeared in sync in the dream in a very
natural way, the past blending perfectly with the present!

I wonder if the dreams we have are any indication of what lies beyond this world? People that claim they can interpret dreams, can they really?

That's difficult to know,
byt strangely we've all heard cases
of people who dream of someone, and that
person either died suddenly at the time
of thinking, or very soon after.

Kinda sytange tho' insifnificant the other night
I dreamt tha I was in a friend's hoouse,
somehow I had no shoes, she didn't even
offer me a lift home in her car,
in the dream I was hinting but she said,
you'll be ok walking if you go slow! lol

.. stranger, the VERY NEXT day I was down
the garden with the dog .... in shabby broken shoes
reserved especially for that purpose,
but rushing off the the store minutes after
I completely forgot to change my shoes,
and there I was. madly trying to hide my shabby feet from
people, it was kind of all connected - strange!

Just be glad that our sub conscience cannot speak except in our sleep, that would make the best black mailer. I always thank the dogs for not being able to talk. I love all those Bush's baked bean commercials because the dog mouths clever things.

YES INDEED, the SUBCONSCIOUS mind can always
be relied on to remind us to do what is
important, sometimes,[for example] in waking hours when your mind is far away, up from the depth of the subconscious come a reminder.

'Don't forget to pay that bill today,
it is the final date of payment'

I love that, bit like having
a little invisible secretary helping you out(:

Wonder if we could be rational without the sub conscience? I went to the post office today, dreaded it as I was trying to find a parking spot. Inside??? Two people on line. Go figure. I thought the rest were swinging from the rafters, thinking, OMG wall to wall people. Not. Leaving for work in about 45 minutes. I dont wanna. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Happeeeeeeeeee Thursday, Nelly patrons!!!!

Grace, just got done rounding up co-workers and corporate, and told them that instead of doing a holiday cookie exchange at work, and our annual secret santa gift exhange, if it would better serve the community of Conneticut to take up a collection for those parents who never expected to have to bury their babies. 20 of them. The anguish and shock on these parents faces is so unbearable and for the rest of us to feel helpless and not know what to do, we can come together for a common good. The numbness and the heart wrenching news stories are so emotionally overwhelming that I needed to take a stand. I will let yo know how things progress.

Well, Vee,
I am very impressed by your post
and I feel it is such a generous idea
that fortunately struck your thinking,

like you say, everyone is sooo frustrated
by a happening the like of this,
and the enormity of it
- even for us away over here - removed from
it by miles, we see uit ALL unfolding on nightly
TV News and are kept up to date.

SUCH a tragedy, words seem hollow,
your actions will help lots more.

What frightens me too is,
how a human mind can 'flip out'
like that and cause such destruction,
one wonders did ANYONE close to the
gunman and who knew him, see or observe
changes very recently in him,
which would start alarm bells ringing.

Frightening and shattering,

yes, please keep us posted.

I needed a break so just got done with a three hour dinner with a friend. She finally gave me my birthday present from 2 months ago. A Wizard Of Oz mug. I love it. Her birthday is tomorrow and I told her I would be late with her also.(Not as late as she was with me) Seems that all the kids shot were five years old.) The only information I got so far is several places that are collectiong donations. I post places here if that is all right in case anyone wants to help on their own.

The American Red Cross

The American Red Cross of Connecticut immediately responded to the shooting scene and provided more than 50 units of blood platelets and plasma to the Danbury Hospital, where some of the victims were transported, spokesperson Melanie Pipkin told the Huffington Post. The aid organization has also distributed food and water to first responders and is setting up a family reception center that will provide initial grief counseling. The aid organization is not seeking blood donations at this time and doesn't anticipate any additional need. Learn about how you can help here

Happeeeeeeee TWOSday evening patrons at Nellys and proprietor!!!! I stopped in just to spread some good cheer as holidays fast approach. Our employee party is Thursday night, catered from a place called Pollo Tropical. Then I have to bring in 24 cookies for the cookie exchange and take home 24 cookies of my choice. I placed several fire buckets in the corner, please drop in donations for the Newtown Memorial Fund. I also bought tickets to the Superbowl again like last year at the Ale House. All you can eat and all you can drink for 6 full hours. I was checking on the menu and this time they might add some new things like Paella. I just told him to keep the chocolate malts coming, as that is new on the menu. They are exceptional. I hope you got to check out, Aunt Chippy's video, I posted them in enough places so you cant miss it. on El's thread, too.
