It is a fair assessment to say that topix wasn't always here! Someone had to create it and then it was born into what it is today! Therefore, a Happy Birthday wish is in order!

Topix began as a news aggregator which categorizes news stories by topic and geography. It was created by Bryn Dole, Rich Skrenta, Bob Truel, Tom Markson, Mike Markson and Chris Tolles, many of whom founded the Open Directory Project. In March 2005, the Knight Ridder (later taken over by The McClatchy Company), Tribune Company and Gannett media companies purchased a 75% share of the company.[2] On April 1, 2007, it acquired the topix.com domain name and invited volunteers to edit the topics of their choice, on top of over 100 journalists and editors from various newspapers already signed up. Some time in 2012 they took that volunteer edit option away without any communication to the thousands of volunteers.[3]

Topix went on to create a community news editing platform, and popular forum system, allowing users to comment on news articles and the goings on of local communities.[4] Topix also created forums, organized by locality as well as by subject matter, which allow visitors to post comments whether or not they are relevant to a particular news story.

"They have to" do no such thing.

They know not what else to do with me....just like you and your Tolles topix thugs...but to try to make me a dude and then beat up on me, censor my words, yank my profiles. It's what you and a toxic topix do best.

It was a dumb plan started long time ago.

It's not, however, exactly what you planned...was it?

This from URBAN Fictionary...oops..Dictionary
The worst forum website yet. Consisting of biased threads/polls, to unregistered anonymous wimps, to spambots and robo spammers, to racism and outlandish posts, well...you get the point...
Go to any forum, ANY FORUM on the website and post a poll or a discussion thread that is relevant to the forum. You will not expect any replies, but if you post anything off-topic, weird or racist, the discussion thread/poll will be flooded with hatred and spam. On the site, constant hate towards other users is bliss, and pros in proxy servers are commonly found everywhere. One day, you can post and change your location to France, then the next day you can change it to Mexico.
All in all, Topix has been rated as one of the worst websites.
P.S. even the moderators of the website join in on the action and they have the ability to remove anything relevant and leave anything irrelevant.
Topix is the child of ignorance and fear...
I like the goat videos, they make me laugh.
