Do you think you are patriotic because you SAY "I support our troops"?

Besides lighting a candle or buying a magnetic ribbon what have you done to support our troops?

ONCE a service member returns from a combat zone..THEY are NEVER the same.. HARD enough to return home and TRY to be WHO you were BEFORE you left... your family and friends... WHO praised you for enlisting to serve YOUR country... Once...home, the tormenting dreams NEVER leave your memory... they are ONLY clouded when you are drunk of stoned..BUT, there to awake you in the dawn..Another..BUMMER..is Once your enlistment is over.. and YOU want to desperately to "fit back in"...YOU don't re-enlist.. YOU get out, your savings spent..SO you look for a job...NO JOBS Available... Am sure, the word FAILURE.. comes to mind...

WAS this the word THAT crossed their mind..WHEN they felt committing SUICIDE was the ANSWER to their pain..WHO KNOWS..Only they do..

Sad, for One to die in the Line of Duty..worse to die..by your own hand..FOR A NON-THREATENING WAR TO AMERICA!!!

Try and explain that to their parents...

. His response was "The White House notified all military funeral service detachments to immediately remove 'the President' and insert 'the Secretary of Defense'. I couldn't believe what I heard and the soldier smiled and said "You can draw your own conclusion sir but that was the order". He, too, was ashamed of what he was required to say.

"As of this writing, according to an Associated Press investigation, there have been 154 suicides for active-duty troops in 2012 nearly one per day of the year so far."

http://beforeitsnews.com/war-and-conflict/201...

The article was written almost a year ago and it wasn't an annual report. Sad situation at that, but not entirely the whole story.

Not sure where the author's numbers come from, but there were ironically 2,012 military deaths in Afghanistan by October of 2012 for the year. That's a lot more than 379 suicides, IMO.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/2012/10/23/...

Truly sad either way the numbers fall.

But who do you place the blame on? Iraq and Afghanistan were not a drafted war.

True, there should be more programs that help our veterans. The VA tries extremely hard, IMO - but they're only one organization that is charged with the care of hundreds of thousands veterans from all walks of life. If you think it's that easy, try to volunteer at your local VA center once. These brothers are sick and disabled - and not to mention destitute. Until you walk a mile in their shoes, it's easy to criticize a system that is minimally effective, IMO.
