I would assume "outside" of Atlanta. No one really lives "in" Atlanta.
Not true, I have many friends that live inside the city limits. Though you are right, I lived in Sandy Springs. Could be downtown in 20 minutes, traffic permitting of course. That trip could sometimes be two hours. Once took me over three hours to drive just three miles. I don't miss the traffic.

I found this out when I lived there.

Population of Atlanta: 432,427

Population of Fulton County: 1,014,932

Population of Cobb County: 698,158

Population of Douglas County: 127,932

Population of DeKalb County: 739,956

Total population of surrounding counties - 2,580,978

Synopsis: Less than 17% of the people that live in the surrounding counties ofAtlanta actually live in Atlanta - and that includes Fulton County itself.

It's a big city, lots of crime, housing is limited - everybody works there.

Why would you include Douglas County and not Clayton or Gwinnett? There are more counties which are included in the metro footprint. Prior to leaving they claimed the total population exceeded 5 million people.

Did you population data extract those that live in the city limits in DeKalb and Fulton? The city itself straddles two counties.

The reality is you stated no one lives within the city limits when in fact many people do. More than 400,00 by your own estimation. Not everyone works there. Look at the high rise office buildings in North Fulton, outside of city limits.

I should be heading to Atlanta for a few days soon. I donít miss the traffic but I do miss some of my friends. I know the city well, lived there for 26 years.

With a population of just over 400,000 and a population of over 5.5 million in surrounding counties, the city is pretty much a work town. Try looking at the amount of parking structures alone in the city of Atlanta. More people work in that city than actually live within the city limits. Why do you think it's so easy to get into that city at night? But try getting out of that city around 3 or 4 in the afternoon...lol "No one lives there" is a play on the old additch, "I've never seen anyone that..."

I also know the city well - and most new housing is typically provided by organizations such as CHDO. A lot of new housing within the city is the "providing housing for low income families" type.
