Welfare, in this instance, doesn't mean handouts. Doofus.
I found this under, "Translating the Constitution for kids:"

•promote the general Welfare"

This clause means the “well-being” of all. It relates back to the previous three clauses: by establishing justice, keeping the peace, and defending the nation, the citizens’ well-being would be taken care of to the best extent possible by a Federal government.

Hmmmmm...sounds familiar.

Really?

Kinda' like Mrs. Crain doesn't provide for you, she just promotes for you.

Makes sense now.

Have you been hanging out with Ferretboy or something? You know there's not much oxygen left under that desk he likes playing under.

Obama could promote a good economy. He can not provide a good economy. Even you should be able to see the difference.

It's getting pretty bad when my welfare doesn't mean the same as your's.

Here it is again:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Please note also "provide for the common defense". Looks like we don't need that 2A either.

But, speaking of the 2A show me where it says you can take over the government any time you're pizzed about finishing second- AGAIN. It's not written in there like "...PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE..." is.

Sorry, but my definition of welfare doesn't come with a life-time supply of government cheese :0)

And I'm sure that the only cheese that was available at the time of the Constitution's penning was not made in Wisconsin.

You honestly believe that ALL people on welfare or assistance programs are freeloaders, huh?

When the gov passed out cheese several years back
I had a couple customers on welfare that brought it in and sold it to me. It was the best cheese I
ever ate, I couldn't afford to buy fresh dairy cheese from the store.
I'm not going to go into percentages or head numbers but I do know there are "MANY" out there that get it that shouldn't, same with disability and subsidy assistance.

We can eliminate welfare fraud by eliminating welfare.

We can eliminate crime by eliminating guns.

A 2002 report by The US Department of Labor says that 1.9% of the total Unemployment Insurance payments for 2001 were attributable to fraud or abuse within the UI program.

The US Department of Labor reported that 1.9% total UI payments for 2001 was attributable to fraud or abuse within the UI program.

The Los Angeles Times reported in 2010 that twenty-four percent of new welfare applications in San Diego County contain some form of fraud.

However, this statistic was misreported and the actual figure is probably considerably lower.

Can you see that it is the governments job to provide for defense yet they do not say provide the general welfare. They say promote which has a total different meaning than provide. They have an obligation to provide defense but they have no obligation to provide your welfare. Grow a pair and provide for your own welfare

Or in your case, don't grow a set and just marry a rich woman.

Makes sense.
