I drove from Chicago to Moorehead, KY in 2003, and then last year I drove from Chicago to Cave City, KY.

I know, maybe the trip can only be completed if you start from the north and go south, rather than starting south and going north!

Words to ponder...

If I want to drive to atlanta from Putney

which is directly north
I gotta drive east for near 40 miles first.

some fool put the interstate that far away from my house.

Prices rose everywhere, not just at Walmart. Although sales at Walmart rose in October by 2.4%, most retail stores sales fell from 4.8% to 16.6%.

Normally with the Christmas shopping season upon us, most major retailers will hire seasonal help. It's possible that Walmart has not hired as many seasonal employees as they have in the past, which may account for the lack of employees.

I would like to rip to shreds the person who coined the phrase "the customer is always right".

My second job is retail (not Walmart), and I've seen some downright RUDE customers...

They walk in the door yelling at their kids, and transfer that anger to us when we don't have what they want...

They bring back something that they bought 5 years ago, no receipt, worn 10,000 times, drug thru the mud twice, and expect us to refund their full purchase price...

Drop something on the floor, glance back at it, and walk away.

They bring in an article of clothing they bought at a different store, attach one of our clothing labels on it and try to return it...I call that stealing.

They switch tags on items so they can purchase newer, more expensive items at clearance prices...

Stealing...downright stealing. They are taking my raise and lowering the stock I have in my store. These are some of the things I find...tags from clothing/coats, empty perfume boxes, empty jewelry boxes, empty electronics boxes...anything they can wear out or fit into their pocket or purse. Did you ever see how big girls purses are now? Those are the ones we watch.

Here's one that I call the "Clothing Exchange Program"...They go into the fitting rooms, change into our clothes, rip the tags off and go waltzing out of the door leaving their sh!t clothes on the floor for me to pick up. Or they take a box of shoes in there, put the new ones on and leave their old ones in the box for me to find.

And speaking of sh!t, here is my most favorite one...Clothes in a heap in the fitting room, and they sh!t or p!ss right on top of them! How would your demeanor be after you have to pick that up???

Associates are overworked and underpaid. Many of my customers have commented that there aren't as many associates in the store now as there were in years past. But we still have to get the same amount of work done with less associates. It keeps the prices down. We wouldn't want people to b!tch about the prices because we had so many people working there.

I try and treat all of my customers with respect, even if they are mean to me. And the ones that are so nasty you want to spit in their face, I treat even nicer and smile even wider. Sometimes that makes them realize I'm a person too. My saving grace is the girls I work with. They make my evenings there bearable. Without them, I would have quit a long time ago.

Before I worked retail I never treated an associate rudely. And now I go out of my way to thank them, and let them know that I appreciate what they do for me, even if they can't find what I want. Try that some day.

Maybe she's like me; it's her second job, she's worked 15 hours that day and she's tired. Or maybe she was rude. I take it you've never been rude to anyone in your life?

Oh, I feel so much better now. I have been ACHING to get that off of my chest for 6 years!!! Thank you for the opportunity for letting me do that.

Sorry if I was rude!

;)

I ran a pharmacy over 20 years. You cut them SOME slack because they came in sick, or for their sick kids or mate, so they were rude, crabby, b!tch!n about the price, but yeah, the public generally sux and I do not miss retail. I loved working New Years Day, everyone dragging in sick and hungover- me, I don't drink so I'd be all smiles and loud and happy...

Yes, retail does suck, but it helps to pay the bills my first job doesn't pay.
