Everything and then some. My dad is a wonderful man. There isn't a thing I don't owe to him.

The "everything" being the things he intentionally taught of course and the "then some" being the lessons I learned from observing his actions and the way he treats others. Truly a wonderful man. I feel really bad for people that don't have good parents. I'm not sure I could ever measure up to mine, but I can keep trying.

Good on ya...my dad helped me to ice skate...took a lot of encouragement though, because balancing was pretty hard...he would grab my hand and guide me to skate around the rink...he was my "training wheels"...ended up joining the local kids hockey team eventually...

My dad taught me, that if you go to a party and drink (or whatever) until you pass out you really have no room to complain if bad stuff happens to your body while you're unconscious! In other words 'all things in moderation' go to parties and have fun but don't overdo it.

A lack of guidance taught something, even if he was an example of how not to be a parent.

Play hard.

Study hard.

Work hard.

It's okay, good even, to be smarter than the other kids.

Think before you speak.

Be polite.

When you don't feel like being polite, count to ten.

Respect your elders.

The Real World can be and often will be really tough.

If you can't be tough, chances are you won't amount to much.

I can't and I won't always be there to fight your battles for you.

When you're right and it's important to, stick to your guns and stand up for yourself.

Nobody owes you a living, not even me.

I don't care if Johnny has that (usually something silly).

If you want it that badly, get a part-time job, save your $ and buy it yourself.

Neither I, nor your Mother is your chauffeur.

Nobody will be very impressed with your whining.

Your own bad actions often result in bad outcomes for you.

If I tell you to not do something more than once, that's a problem.

You're judged at least as much by your actions, as by your words.

Conformity can be overrated (so what if everybody does that?)

Whenever you can, do it yourself.

I owe you only a loving, supportive home, some clothes, three meals a day and a chance at a good education.

Get up, get going, less talk about doing, more doing.

I hit the Dad jackpot! My Dad is a treasure! Helped raise 4 kids, flew with the USAF and USAF Reserves for almost 40 years, college professor, frustrated truck farmer, human dynamo, craftsman and house builder/designer, philosopher and role model.
