That last sentence is kind of a catch all, ain't it? If a parent raises a good kid God gets the glory and if a parent raises a kid who gets into trouble it's 'coz God wasn't there.

I've known GREAT people who had a poor upbringing and a**holes that had a good upbringing.

There comes a time in life where we start making our own decisions.

If you tell someone you're going to do something, then do it! Don't make excuses and don't make promises you don't intend to keep.

He taught me to ALWAYS take a day pack when going out hiking or even for a walk because you just never know if you might have to spend the night out there. How to build a campfire, and how to shoot straight.

My father taught me etiquette and poise. He also taught me to gather vast amounts of knowledge. To see and understand all that is before me. To read everything and anything tired down or not.

He taught me manners and how to walk as if on a runway. Also how to set a proper table, not to mention making an awesome eatable center piece.

Also, he taught me to never wear white after Labor day. And always to make sure my accessories to match.

Besides all the daily stuff he ALWAYS threw at me he showed me a lot of things by example by just being himself.
My DAD was one of those very real MANS,MANS type of guys
somewhere between John Wayne & Burt Reynolds lol

HUMOR is a big help :)
HELP the other guy,no matter what!
DON'T back down -that one has got me in trouble a few more times than seem believable & I have had to adjust & relearn it also.
How being friendly & being yourself allows you to make REAL friends that can trust YOU so you can also trust THEM.
Don't EVER let someone scam or con you & if they say they are the best at something MAKE them prove it.
Adjust & adapt quickly & make yourself memorable lol oops I think he meant at the time IN A GOOD WAY I also had to relearn that one a few times.

A lot of this means a lot to me,because I now having nothing to show & to give to my daughter but MYSELF & who I am as my legacy, I truly try to make it all worth while. Rick

My Dad wasn't around long enough to teach me much, he died when I was eight yrs old. But I inherited
his genes and from those I learnt

To distrust authority

To stand on my own two feet

Not to humour anyone...or be humoured

'bout it really..

My Aunt however, taught me to dance..being a dancer herself

Elecution.

How to keep gorgeous skin

Not to mix with people 'lower than myself'....(which I took great delight in seeking out!)

My Uncle taught me Maths...Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry. Not bad for a fellow who was fighting in the trenches at the age of 16.
