Look Tally you are going to see things your way as I will see things mine, so this will be the last comment to YOU.... I know all about the big wall sound barriers and I know all about mufflers... The fact the dude lives near an amusement park, in my opinion, means if he doesn't like the noise too damn bad move already....
You sent me a pm about trolling well to keep trying to stir the pot, is how a lot of trolls act..... Just saying.....

A Northern California roller coaster appears to have been a little too much fun.

The Gold Striker at Great America in Santa Clara had to be taken offline this week because riders were screaming too loudly.

The San Jose Mercury News reports ( http://bit.ly/1aK6QAw ) that the shrieks were exceeding the decibel limit agreed upon in a settlement with Prudential Real Estate, which owns adjacent properties.

So Great America had to cover a portion of the track in a sound-dampening tunnel. The wooden roller coaster reopened on Wednesday after the work was completed.

your head or if your balls hurt hasn't a thing to do with this
it is called zoning .... every burg has zoning laws ..
read one more time , sound barriers are available and are very useful ..... one only has to dampen the noise ..
not hard to do , I use a muffler on my car why , because of noise level [law] state/federal specify how high decibels can be , even at your job
zoning eh pops?

the kind of zoning that allowed the park in the first place?

psssssst, you're contradicting yourself

Great America is a name shared by two American amusement parks originally built and operated by the Marriott Corporation in 1976.

Santa Clara real estate listings include ... Year built: 1954. View ... An independently owned and operated broker member of BRER Affiliates Inc. Prudential,...

the chicken or the egg??????
geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze

yep zoning ..........
Zoning may include regulation of the kinds of activities which will be acceptable on particular lots (such as open space, residential, agricultural, commercial or industrial), the densities at which those activities can be performed (from low-density housing such as single family homes to high-density such as high-rise apartment buildings), the height of buildings, the amount of space structures may occupy, the location of a building on the lot

Yes the park opened in 1976, the park was built in what was considered an industrial area at the time IMO.

Santa Clara is a part of the Silicon Valley, big bucks for property there. We all know the more money you pay for a home the better your hearing is, sort of kidding, a study was done proving people that pay more complain more.

I wonder will they stop 49er games or the Super Bowl if it becomes too loud? The new stadium is expected to open for the 2014 season. The park and the new stadium are with in walking distance, the new stadium is built on what was Great America's overflow parking lot. If they think a few dozen roller coaster riders are bad I wonder how tens of thousands of screaming fans will go over?

My point really is why would anyone live near the park if you are bothered by noise, it simply doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense to most people.

The amusement park issue is done, I agree. The stadium is next, my prediction, that will not be as easy a fix.
