The war on drugs is a waste of time and money.
It does nothing to mitigate the harm they do. It actually adds to it.
Causes not quality or purity control of them.
Put's huge strain on our law enforcement and prison system and diverts attention from much more serious problems.
Put's drugs into children's hands.
Creates a lucrative business for psychopathic criminals to get wealthy and powerful
Does nothing to curb use or availability.
Was directly responsible for the flood of much more dangerous substitutes such as Spice and Bath Salts.
Put's people into the system for doing nothing but altering the consciousness that belongs to nobody but them.
Sends money to hostile countries.
This is just the start of the laundry list.
The War on Drugs has caused more havoc on society then the drugs ever have themselves. complete failure and totally immoral in every way.

You've nailed it there FTW ^^^. Well said.

The 'war' on drugs will never be 'won'. From earliest times mankind has sought out and used drugs. From medicinal plants to conscious altering ones.
It is doubtful if the Governments of the World actually want it won. It serves a purpose in dividing a group internally so that drug users and suppliers can be made a scapegoat of in all that ills society.

I know it hasn't been won, and probably never will, but I think drug use has gone down.

Hmm, not so sure that it has. Certainly it has changed. Different drugs come and go out of fashion but the use/abuse of them remains, I think.

On top of what you say, it is big business with huge profits for the agencies fighting the War on Drugs. All about grandstanding, profits, and locking people into the system.
Not only do they not want it won, it can't be won. The very idea of waging a war on a thing is flawed....Not to mention the biggest pushers of the most dangerous drugs are government licensed doctors!

Addictive drug use follows predictable ebb's and flow's. Drug use goes and people see the dangers and stay away from them. Once the drug use goes down, people forget the dangers and begin to use them again. It's a constant cycle of high's and lows. When drug use goes down it has very little to do with Prohibition. People who use dangerous drugs are often too desperate and down and out to care about legalities. Drug sellers always justify the possible risks with the possible rewards. Just like any other gambler.

Geeker??? Don't think so....It is clear to see by all available data, that the War on Drugs is a complete and total waste of time and resources. There is not one good reason to let it continue. It only multiplies the negative impact drugs have on society. The only people who are being served by it are those who's job's are in enforcement of drug laws.
The facts are clear as day to anyone who cares to look.

The War on Drugs is the reason the cartels exist.

He existed yes. Buuuuut. He started dealing cocaine to the US in the 70's. The War on Drugs was officially declared by Nixon in 1971. Sooooo......
That's when it was called the War on Drugs. The War on Drugs and drug prohibition by any name is the direct reason violent psychopaths who control the cartels and the cartels themselves exist. They would have no power without drug prohibition. We create them through our misguided and ridiculous drug laws. Look at Prohibition. Once alcohol was banned the Italian Mafia, Jewish crime syndicates, and the Irish mobs took over the trade. They all became rich and powerful and the violence ensued. How much of the alcohol trade is controlled by them now. By making substances criminal we put the business in the hands of criminals. By making them illegal we are just giving up all control of the drugs. Repeal immoral drug laws and being a violent criminal no longer becomes a good way to do business. Not one thing I said about the BS that is our drug policy can be denied.
It causes 100x more problems the drugs ever have themselves.

Seriously Tally, if you support the War on Drugs and our drug laws give some reasons why. List some actual good that comes out of it. Explain how it's anybodies business but the users.
