thank you.
I've been telling people this for a while, the 'stranger' talk is not really going to help most kids when it is family/acquaintances that are most often the perpetrator.
On death penalty, I don't trust our judicial system enough to give them that power over life and death. It is not fair, money buys freedom and I have seen innocent people do decades in prison.(innocent, proven by DNA)
I agree with your first paragraph as much as I do with M69. As to our judicial system the only chord that strikes fresh right now is OJ and that woman Anthony. WIth OJ, so much evidence, how could a DA get that wrong? IT was in the bag.

In the OJ case, exxcept for the glove, it wasn't so much that the DA got it wrong. Looked more like a case of jury nullification.

I thought the lawyers chose the jury panel from a pool of possible jurors, hence jury duty??
Getting lost here.. that's what I thought.

Have we forgotten what justice is? The criminals and murderers seem to have more rights than the people they beat and kill. A guy here in Rochester is getting 25yr max for stabbing someone to death, took a knife and forced it into the younger man's body, severing blood vessels and all the important life support organs inside, staring in his face as the life drained out of his victim. That is some hardcore violent killing rght there. What are the chances the murderer actually gets the max and serves the full time? "good behavior" in prison might chop 10 years off his incarceration, that is wrong.

It's a Catch-22.

The same Constitution that we don't want anyone to change (re: 2nd Ammendment) is the same one that is being compromised and getting these idiots off early or reduced sentences.

What in the sam-hill does the 2nd Amendment
( Second Amendment protects an individuals right to possess and carry firearms) have to do with crime
and punishment?

First of all, everyone on this forum knows that you're HH - if you're going to troll, at least do it right...dumbass.

Secondly, these asshats are being convicted often as part of a plea bargain - often done to prevent the courts to rule that their Constitutional rights won't be violated. Changes to the system (re: Constitution) would be required to allow these criminals to be sentenced to the absolute maximum of the law. But we all know that nobody wants to make any changes to the Constitution that'll reduce our rights.

If we could be certain that the person committed the crime, I would have no problem with the death penalty for capital offenses such as multiple murder, serial rape or child molestation. That being said, I also believe that the appeal process is way too long. Shorten it to 5 years. We also need to get rid of plea bargains and time off for good behavior. If the sentence is 10 years, they do ten years period. Three strikes for violent felonies and no country club prisons either. Make them do hard time, like Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County Arizona.

Why not?! Look at Texas they just get it done. Why are we supporting all these murderers and child killers? Cause they are nuts? Well, one nut is not the same as another, one thing is a girl next to you eating her own hair and another is the Son of Sam or Dahmer. I don't know, which would rather sit next too?
It's no secret I'm a supporter of the death penalty.
Only for convicts that commit the most heinous crimes.
However the state/prosecutors office needs to be even
more careful that they have the right person.

There are lots of innocent ppl in jail.
It happens. And to execute an innocent person would
be one of the biggest crimes.

That *sounds* like the typical, "only for the really, REALLY, guilty people..."

You can err and give a person their freedom back but, you cannot give them their life back after wrongly executing them.
