It may offend your eyes, but the River Holme's bizarre coloration has been caused by nothing more sinister than deposits of natural earth pigment ochre from a disused mine.

"Disused mine" is not a phrase which normally calls to mind "environmentally innocuous."
Anyway, the effluvia looks like buffalo wing hot sauce and chicken expelled as diarrhea, and that's "natural." But not so nice.

This river looks nice! I really hope that the mining company is not too inconvenienced by the orange river color.
