Looking for hot new beachwear before the summer fades away? Then you might - or, let's face it, might not - try a facekini, one of those colorful masks that drew attention on Chinese beaches in 2012, Global Post reports.

We are all muslin now....

Oh...I know someone who should definitely wear a facekini, as opposed to a bodykini...lol
Well, I know a few people...but one came to mind immediately...
Anyway, I can't believe the burglar look is now "chic"...

I wouldn't be able to wear that for more then a minute, if that. Face would be all sweaty and hot. Besides, it's ugly and reminds me of a burglar hiding his face.
Cultural difference: In Asia would remind people more of ninja warriors (and the Chinese equivalents.)

I agree. Wonder who's idea the Facekini is? It could possibly be a mini rendition of the Burka. I've seen a number of women in the last 2 years sporting a Burka like covering Some were completely engulfed in the attire, and others with just a face covering.
Well, I was suggesting that in the Far East it would not likely derive cultrually from the burka, but from ninja, etc., face coverings, but maybe the facekini started somewhere other than in China.

Women in full burkas are beginning to show up in Philly. It is always startling to see. It reeks of misogyny and "religious" extremism as sure as all the fundies running around do, imo. The people in burkas here so far tend to be African American; our Arab population tends to be pretty secular as far as I can tell.

Recently a man, they determined, wearing a burka committed an armed robbery. I think it was a bank job. We'll be hearing more on this topic of people in public wearing full burkas, I hope, just as happened in France. But then it will be harder to actually do something about it here because "religious" people are overly protected by the First Amendment.(Hobby Lobby.)

And on public beaches as with the article, I'll wager.

That would be a wise bet, old chum. I usually have my banana hammock speedos on my lower unit, lacey red undies on my face. I like to rub my belly and say "how 'bout this heat" and then I stand uncomfortably close to people, licking my lips.

I don't mind the sun sometimes the images it shows
I can taste you on my lips and smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugar-y and softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look through other people's eyes
