There are apparently fakebook pages purporting to have a video of the fatal occurrence via car webcam...using photos of the actual person.

Lesson here: pointing a gun at oneself is not cool...it's stupid.

No one..and I mean NO one who has half a brain picks up a gun and doesn't check its status..

well, unless they want half a brain or they are some kids who find it it daddy's drawer which has already qualified them as having less then a complete brain..

The story here may be true..

I can believe that it's probably true.

There are some people that are not intelligent enough to own firearms. For one, they were never properly trained by a father, loved one,or perhaps an instructor or the military. But some of them go out and buy one anyway. And let's face the facts, that some people also just lack common sense in general.

Kind of like the people easily influenced by what they read in popular media. Very rarely do we read in popular national media how a home owner has successfully defended themselves or their loved ones, though there are instances every week in this country. Or does the popular media ever post or do the stories about how crime rises for the countries (or our own cities)... that has implemented a ban of some sort on firearms. Or how lucky we are as a country to even still have the choice to own. Only the bad stuff is what we hear, and very loudly. And some people swallow it hook, line and sinker.

For every 1 numbnut with a gun (such as this guy) that makes the news is a negative way... there are 10 of us serious, law abiding citizens that own firearms. Nobody ever hears about them because they stay quiet... unless they may be needed.

The story is not about one individual who is stupid, because in reality the stats show that homes with guns are far less safe than those without, due to - hey, guess what?- gun accidents, suicides and domestic disputes.

Statistically speaking the "successful home defense" scenarios are dwarfed.

But tee baggrz don't do statistics. Only anecdote for them, i.e., what I believe or what I heard....

I imagine that gun accidents would actually be 100% impossible, without actually having a gun. A suicide would be much easier because it would be the best tool for the job (if you owned one). Domestic disputes happen everyday, even without guns. So provide your link.

By the stats, you say? I'm not sure I've actually seen stats on "successful home defenses" vs. common liberal hoopla that you're now spouting...so supply the links. It's that easy.
You know that we've already been over this issue at least twice already. You seemingly didn't care for the stats or links I supplied you with either time, because amazingly enough you STFU. Now I don't have the stats on that , but I imagine it to be a rare occurrence for yourself.
Links please, then I'll be happy to supply some of mine own. Again. And when I get this bored. Which is pretty rare.

I bet you don't even know you're avoiding the point. The point is not your stupid, tee baggrz tautology.

The point is that homes with guns are less safe when you add everything up than homes without guns are.

It has nothing to do with this individual moron. If he were some sort of extreme outlier then he'd be the story. He isn't. He represents how and why, partly, homes with guns are less safe than are those without.

Since I don't do Facebook, I will refrain from any comments to the validity or lack thereof as to wether or not the reports are true. I will say however, with the crazy and stunningly idiotic things humans are capable of, that this event, if true, will not surprise me one bit.

I believe the "selfie" shooting happened.

Then what happened is that someone, I think, put up a facebook page that was a hoax, and which claimed to have a car webcam clip of the "selfie." That part is not true, I believe, although it's hard to know because mainstream, net news outlets were referencing that fbook page as the victim's own.

With the IQ level being so shamefully low, a 50% reduction in the populace might get us barely above average retardation levels.

Thanks, for the link. Although you made Philly's job a little easier.... as he most likely just referenced a flier he received in his daily Republican hate email.

There are a number factors in the discussion area (scroll down towards the bottom), that make the findings IMO, inconclusive.

Just one of the most glaring, is they didn't account for the people that had the firearms illegally to begin with. Which also meant a high crime environment no doubt. Those coincidentally, would be the only people that would have them if we ever had an all out ban in this country. This greatly effects the findings because we are unsure of those percentages.

It was all done by proxy interviews, there is also the possibility of misclassification regarding the cause or manner of death, so no investigations on the actual cause.

Another is the justifiable homicides.

This study has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.

There's that ignorance again.

Whether the guns are owned legally or illegally they still contribute to making the home less safe than those without. It's a risk factor, like smoking or over eating.

Comprehensive gun control need not mean no one will own a gun. You lie and distort. What comprehensive gun control means is that it would be harder for those who should not have guns to obtain them. It would reduce the flow of easy to obtain guns in VA or PA to places with gun control laws like NYC or Chicago.

This would include vetting private sales and gun show sales, and doing better with purchases from registered dealers over the net.

You can't buy or sell a car without a title transfer...which again has nothing to do with somehow making lawbreakers obey the law. It makes things harder for them when they contemplate breaking the law or do break the law.

Same for gun control - nothing to do with this disingenuous, right wing notion that the idea of gun control must be to make criminals law abiding. That is not the idea.
