An amount of money that could purchase 1000 iPads. Maybe I should buy a half dozen iPad 1's off of eBay in preparation for the future?

Very, very neat. But if only foresight were 20/20. Then my mother and her siblings wouldn't have been allowed to destroy an Action comics (issue#1) along with quite a few other rare comic books.. owned by my great grandparents. And I wouldn't have sold.. for a few bucks ALL of those baseball cards, that was worth NADA way back when.

And all those vintage early 70's muscle cars an uncle of mine once owned ... just from my memory? I just seen one that he ONCE had, go for several hundred thousand bucks on a Barret's auction. I didn't mention that to him, why bother?

Know what you mean. In 1967 I gave a neighbor kid 2 paper grocery sacks full of Marvel comics because I was moving and didn't see the sense to hauling them across the country.

Even worse, I hauled a 1960 T-bird to the salvage yard because I was moving. Saw a restored one on line going for $40K.

OUCH!! Bama.... That does hurt!

I actually can't confirm for myself the Action comics story BTW.... but as my mother is pretty much the sweetest woman that EVER lived IMO.. and that has never (to my knowledge) lied to me, except the annoying Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and Tooth fairy sort of things.... and her seemingly truthful siblings all confirmed it... I assume that that story is all true. I can personally confirm the others...

Of course I've reminded them of what just that little particular item (the Action #1) in itself has sold for at auctions. And to say that I'm grateful that looks can't really kill, would probably be an understatement.

I'm pretty sure they all still love me. At least my Mom does.. I think....:)

At least she acts like it!!

At 70 years of age, I've gotten a bit philosophical, or at least tell myself so.
It's only money & we can't take it with us.

My vehicle is paid for and in good shape. My yard is small enough that it only takes an hour and a half to mow it with a 52 inch mower.

I live in a conservative state that doesn't tax its retirees into bankruptcy. Even better, my adopted state has no tolerance for illegals and has one of the strongest Castle laws in the country.

Life here is much better than it was in the Democratic state of Illinois.

My apologies for dragging politics into the discussion. I exercised far more restraint than you can know....;-)

Not a problem sir, It's possible I'm in agreement with you more than you know. As far as the political side of of things go?

I'm personally of the opinion of firing the whole darned bunch and starting fresh. As they seem unwilling to work together, somehow I feel as though they've simply both lost sight of the big picture.

For just one example: a cut back in the education program? We're already behind in several other countries in that regard.... it's simply time to start worrying about the future of our home-front. Cut back on some of the idiotic ideals, such as NOT taxing the ridiculously rich to the minimum before it's too late. Sigh... the lower and the and middle class make the whole clock keep on ticking, as in our nation, we who actually do pay taxes. But we are asked to give even more, while the rich say "eat it and like it"? There is something wrong with that picture, and I'm thinking they will find that out soon enough, on their own.

A nation of money lenders VS. money borrowers ( the borrowers who are now falling behind, and actually do pay EVERYONE'S bills ) because they've either lost their jobs, or taken cuts in pay or possibly hours on the job.... will soon face a reality that none of us will appreciate, even the filthy rich. Some will say, "look how well the stocks are doing"... Right before it all comes crashing down. I do hope I'm wrong. I have a nice little 401K and savings just like some people. I may do better than some in here, or possibly not as well as others. Don't know....

But IF we don't wake up as a nation as a whole..and I mostly mean (our government and politicians, as in right freaking now).. then we may possibly all be screwed. But JMO. Sorry Bama, you got me started on the politics thing...
