As long as you believe that, Crain, it doesn't matter what Switzerland feels and actually does concerning their citizens and weapons. The Swiss and everyone, in fact, need to be more Crain-centric. If Crain believes, for example, that more people are killed by hammers than guns then, who am I to say Crain is dumber than a bag of wet hammers?

Those points are moot. The major
problem is how to keep guns (of any
kind) out of the hands of ppl with
severe mental illnesses.

I do wonder what sort of medication Lanza might have been on. Watch any of these commercials where they list the side-effects of pills that the Pharmaceutical companies make hundreds of millions of dollars on and, well, i'd rather smoke cigarettes than take something that might cause me to kill myself. And while many losers here might want to hasten my demise, if a pill makes a person want to kill their self, how might it make that person feel about the lives of others? I would bet Lanza's medication was not helping...

It's called treatment and harm reduction. Addiction is a MEDICAL PROBLEM.

Swiss drug addicts given free heroin

..."Dr Christoph Buerki runs the Berne clinic. He has around 200 clients and says the program is good for addicts and for society.

"Once a patient enters our treatment he would very much to a large degree - and the statistics have proven that - would reduce his illegal activities," he said.

"So that's one very, very important point also for society."

Portugal Decriminalized All Drugs Eleven Years Ago And The Results Are Staggering

..."The resulting effect: a drastic reduction in addicts, with Portuguese officials and reports highlighting that this number, at 100,000 before the new policy was enacted, has been halved in the following ten years. Portugal's drug usage rates are now among the lowest of EU member states, according to the same report.

One more outcome: a lot less sick people. Drug related diseases including STDs and overdoses have been reduced even more than usage rates, which experts believe is the result of the government offering treatment with no threat of legal ramifications to addicts."

The majority of these kinds of ppl refuse
to take any kind of medication. As bad as the
side effects of some of these meds are they are
nothing compared to the symptoms of the illness
itself.

More people are killed with blunt object than with Assault rifles. Don't change what I said. Very few crimes are commited with what you want to call an assault rifle

Thats a huge factor to take into consideration.. and then its, IF he was medicated properly.. and IF he was taking his meds according to instructions.. etc.. If he wasnt following the directions, taking them haphazard, went off cold turkey, mixed with other "drugs" of personal recreational choice.. etc... it definately played into his mental health, and what happened...

I had a neighbor like that well withing a quarter mile as the crow flies...He'd be fine as long as he took his meds but then you see him out on the road looking around and talking to himself. His family would eventually have to have him committed to get him back on his meds.

I've heard the same thing many times through the years too.

Shocking statistic.

Just like there are more soldier deaths
by suicide than killed in action overseas.

Looks like the yoke is on you.

You will never be able to keep guns out of criminals hands, but you can protect yourself and family.

Many things factor into the "how to" keep people safe.

Have fun with that post, I'm going to work.

Ya, it's not working and YOU'RE paying for it. Perhaps it's time for America it change it's tactics...except the bankers are making too much money.

How a big US bank laundered billions from Mexico's murderous drug gangs

Yes, guns at home but, no ammunition because the 300 gun deaths a year were a problem. So, it's like Reagan sending Marines to Beirut with rifles but no ammo.

How hard do you think it is to buy ammo? The Swiss stopped providing ammo for storage at home. The lack of guns and ammo allowed the mass shooting by the terrorist on the army base in Texas. No one could shoot back
