no i dont think so, the media has always been there to report a story - thats what they are in the business for. as long as the public is lusting for it - they will keep going with it.
the real problem is they rush into it without knowing all the facts.

agree.. but what defines the masses..? given the media twist on anything "left" over the past 15 years or so, the "mass" is most always skewed..

I understand the mass, welfare of the people. All too well. I fear for my welbeing as well. going to a movie, sending my precious grandbaby to school.. I understand coming up with a solution to keep these things from happening..and I agree we need answers..desparately.

Ive read all the debates here, and I agree with a lot of points you all make...on both sides... You, Ferreman, DW Prep, and a few more have all been very kind with your points of view and helping to educate me further.. however, what is best for the mass, leans on the stronger opinion and the squeaky wheel.. I am in the majority of opinion, the common ordinary folk, who cant win a debate, but pay attention to what is happening in our country. my majority may not have same opinion, but we want to make our changes based on truths. We dont want our freedoms endangered to make those changes.. We want at the end of the day to still be allowed our choices... unfortunately,, that ,to me, is what stands in jeopardy, and that is not in the best interest of the mass..

but that is the idea behind a new order of gun control .. a Texas permit does not let you to carry in New York and visa/versa... we have no uniform code amongst states

a sane law abiding person can and does own a weapon...that isn't the prob... I just had a friend ambushed here a month ago ... how did it happen a convicted murdered got guns , how a 24 year old girl , lied and bought them .... she is facing charges now

the law abiding person doesn't kill ....

now you have options obey , don't obey choose wisely

It's a slippery slope isn't it?! I mean there seems to be a fine line between protecting you and your freedom of rights and becoming a dictatorship.

Who wants to be told what to do and how to do it with every move made?
We want to be protected from such horrible events but how to do this is a bigger problem.
The longer the issue is delayed the more will perish.
I just don't see this ever being an easy solve without a major uproar.

This will probably sound ridiculous but I think a good step forward is to not allow media to exploit these events. They pollute us with these horrific stories and create an even bigger hysteria.
There's always going to be that one derranged person who will come up with these horrid ideas.
But I also feel that the media is influential enough that those contemplating such madness get a little 'push'.
I'm talking about living in ignorance but glorifying this is despicable.
They turn it into a circus.

Bad situations make for bad laws. You can not pass a law that stops crime. The only way to stop crime is make it so clear you will not get away with it. Gun free zones are the problem. We are all safest when no one knows who is armed

A great many states recognize other states permits just like they recognize driver license.

the point is not all, for guns ... and a driver's license is common sense .. are you going to take a test and paid for 50
and in the drivers license , the state's have reciprocating courts . you suspended in Texas you are suspended every where.....

I agree. The fear comes from,, if we are all allowed to carry , the madmen are included in "all" but situations are proving, they prey on no gun zones.. and noteriety, as you stated in another thread..Adam Lanza lives in infamy now... years from now, we will have to google his victims names....
unfortunately, we are not going to stop crime...or madmen regardless the law....but we will render ourselves willing prey.

The madmen and criminals don't follow the law and they carry a gun illegally in gun free zones. I carry legally and don't carry in gun free zones. As I have said before. You will never see a headline that says Mass Shooting at Gun Show.
