If Lanza mother had been responsible and locked her guns up knowing her son had mental problems we might not be having this debate right now.

While these state laws are in direct violation of national law classifying marijuana as a harmful narcotic the federal government is yet to issue any directive to counteract state legislation in this matter.
The federal government will still enforce it but the state will not. Same as the back ground check. The state didn't do it so it was set up with an instant federal check

I image you get the grandfather clause ... but what is being said .... when I filed I had to have my history.. where I lived and 5 sponsors.. the local/state /fbi did the checks ..
domestic violence [family court] and criminal history are looked at ... and I was a lawyer for the DA office ...then
I know New York has similar laws. Is that to buy a gun or to carry a gun? If it was to buy that would make private gun sales next to impossible. Here your CCL is an instant federal check. Our law is written so the state has no choice in the matter. The state shall issue. You can carry a gun on the floor of our state house for a very good reason. The legislators carry :)

I had never heard that. I know Reagan didn't know he was hit but that is common with a .22

Still wasn't an accident. Just a bad shot. Only an accident if the shooter didn't mean to fire off the round.

I don't know if she did or didn't lock them up. Some of my guns are lock but that would just slow down someone. Locks and chains can be cut. I think I am going to take the bolts out and store them another place

There was no accident. The plan was to shoot the president. That happened. The fact that the bullet bounced off the car is irrelevant. Reading comprehension.

It was a very fortunate shot that hit the President that day.

Unless you're a grammer school teacher, accident is a reasonable synonym for fortunate. At least that's what my dictionary says.

I know what he was referring to - it's a public forum, don't get your panties in a wad over a word.

So the shooter was trying to shoot the car? In you view that is what you are saying. It was just an accident that Reagan got in the way?

<quoted text>The reason it is easy to get a gun is because gun ownership is your right in the constitution. The only thing that would have reduced the number of people killed in all of these mass shooting is one or more people who are armed.500,000 people in Texas have concealed carry and we are safer for it. If criminals are going to have guns even though it is illegal to do so I want good people armed and able to fight back
Thats it exactly.....
In real life..
Unfortunately politics is so disconnected from real life now, its just not even comprehensible... Firstly, yes they are getting more publicity even over here we are hearing all about incidents which really, are none of our business. Why? Because that president is attempting to shift public opinion in hopes of a majority vote to ban guns. Why? Because America is probably the only country in the world where if push came to shove, the authorities actually wouldnt stand a chance against the entire population. And that is the problem. Criminals will always be against authorities that will never change. But Law abiders can be pushed around and can be disarmred if its illegal to be armed. And they outnumber criminals significantly. America is running a 16trillion debt. That will never be payed back, it just wont. Theyve accumulated 2trillion in less than two years. That level of debt accumulation cant even be curbed, let alone stopped. Or even reversed. So within the next year or two something is gonna give and when it does... well, lets just say the gove will take full control of everything. And administer some "tough love" and thats putting it very very very mildly. So... Protest? In Ireland i never attend any. I just cannot, no matter how hard I try, swallow standing in a stupid group waving stupid signs while being FULLY aware that the politicians were protesting just look out their windows and laugh before going back to their business. Now.. if we were all waving guns instead of signs, things might be different. See what im getting at? Americans face serious serious hardship and need to be controllable and suppressable by, what by then, should be a fully developed and equipped constabulary force when they decide enough is enough. It sucks but im almost positivr thats the general jist of whats going on.
