China Joins Russia In Warning Syria Strike Would Have "Catastrophic Consequences"
Until now, the loudest and most material opponent to a Syrian invasion by the "liberating" powers was Russia. Moments ago, China joined the anti-western axis. BBC reports: "Russia and China have stepped up their warnings against military intervention in Syria, with Moscow saying any such action would have "catastrophic consequences" for the region."
Earlier, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague told the BBC an international military response to the suspected use of chemical weapons would be possible without the backing of the UN.
The UN Security Council is divided, with Russia and China opposing military intervention and the UK and France warning that the UN could be bypassed if there was "great humanitarian need".
In a column in The Times newspaper, former UK PM Tony Blair has written that if the West does not intervene to support freedom and democracy in Egypt and Syria, the Middle East will face catastrophe
The UN says more than 100,000 people have been killed since the uprising against President Assad began more than two years ago. The conflict has produced more than 1.7 million registered refugees.
Adding to the picture, Interfax reported moments ago that representatives of Russia and China have withdrawn from a UN Security Council session on Syria. And since both countries have UN veto power, just like back in 2012 when this whole scenario was being replayed, there can not be joint UN resolution.
Which means if the US wants an invasion, it will have to do it away from the UN, further cementing the UN's role as the world's most irrelevant organization. Of course, it also means that the PR selling of such an invasion to a gullible public will be just that much more difficult, and the TV spin machine will be working on overtime.
Finally, just to make sure that should the Nobel Peace Prize winner begin a war (without Congress or the UN of course) it would be of the "world" variety, earlier today Japan promptly aligned itself with the insolvent west:
•JAPAN PM SAYS SITUATION IN SYRIA IS FAULT OF ASSAD
The axes are thus set once again: US, UK, Europe and Japan vs Russia and China.
Let the games begin.
Nugatory on your line-up for set-up.
Unless you're ludicrous ramblings about Obama being a Muslim are right and he wants to destory Israel are correct.

Yea. According to someone in Obama's administration, most likely.

It's terrible so many have been killed and nothing has been done although many things have been tried.

I get it!! I understand why Obama does't want to go in guns blazing without our allies. Haven't enough of our troops already died? Do you want there to be more????

In order for us to go in and start another war which will happen we need to know other countries are going to stand with us not against us..

Iran has already said it will fight against us and nobody is sure about Russia. The Brits are not even commited to this and they always stand with us.

I get it!!! He has to make sure. This will probably be the biggest decision he will make during his time in office..

The fight is already there. 50% of Americans polled don't want us going in.

We can't afford this fight.

The price we will pay in the lives of our loved ones is not worth it without help

And you better make sure you can win that fight.

Our troops are tired, battered and beat down from years of war. They need a break...

Facts to know:

Napalm- A truly American tale

Napalm is one of those American inventions that you wish weren’t, sort of like Agent Orange, killer drones, or nuclear weapons. Sure, their invention might have had to happen eventually, but why should the U.S. have to shoulder credit – culpability?— for being the first to develop ever-better and more lethal weapons? Was that something the Founding Fathers ever envisioned?

Despite its heritage and horror, napalm – the word is a marriage of its two original components, naphthenic and palmitic acids – has played a major role in the history of war. That’s why Robert M. Neer, a historian at Columbia University, elected to write a book about it. Battleland conducted this email chat with Neer earlier this week:

What is the bottom line in your new book, Napalm: An American Biography?

Napalm was born a hero but lives a pariah.

Its story shows how defeat on the battlefield, grassroots protest, vilification in popular culture, regulation under international law, development of alternative weapons, and the rise of a global civilian culture can constrain military power.

napalm

Belknap Press

Why did you pick that particular subtitle,“An American Biography”?

First, because this is napalm’s life story, from its birth on Valentine’s Day 1942 to President Barack Obama’s signature on his first full day in office of the first U.S. treaty to limit its use.

Second, because it is an American weapon: it was invented in America and has been used longer, more widely, and to greater effect by the United States than any other country.

Look at their history and how long they've been fighting each other- it's the only way they can keep their population under control, it's what Obama hopes to do with "US", He saw that as a kid growing up in Africa.
Soon as he gets the Christians fighting with the Catholics and the atheist aging it on, and the Muslims underhandedly prodding all 3, he'll have his utopia he's dreamed about. That's when "WE" all get =implanted= chips, and he becomes 'king'

Meanwhile on planet Earth, President Obama said today any U.S. response to Syria's chemical arms attack would not involve sending U.S. troops.

Whether you agree or not on any type of mission to Syria, one thing for certain is that the NATO membership is very frayed. It was also frayed in Trashcanistan where some member states made it quite clear they tried to avoid the more violent and combat required areas. It's an alliance that has members willing to go so far, others not, and never on the same page anymore.

As much as I disagree with Obama on many things, he is right to question how the rest of the world is shrugging it's shoulders at a chemical attack.

Having said that, what outcomes are there in Syria? Assad the retard staying or possibly a new govt being islamist since the rebels do have radical islamists amongst them.

The verdict...lands of islam are very f'ed up.

Six years? Do you adjust your calendar for inflation or are you from the future? My sources tell me he took office, January of 2009. MY calendar tells me this is 8/30/2013. My math skills tell me that's NOT "6 years".
