I turned 58 this month. High school days were ok. School colors are purple and gold. I had 15 jobs since graduation. Just a few days ago I got mail about updating info for a high school history-not a yearbook. I was asked info about knowing anyone else, being they had missing people to contact. I said they are all gone from town except myself and it has been 39yrs. So memory is somewhat faded. I been on S.S. disability since 2000. Can't financially keep up with my age group, I only have 3 people I'm associated with. Limited income usually causes friends to fadeaway. I have a neighbor 3 doors from me and she's on meds-depression+anxiety. She was a school counseler (she's 67). Difficult to have conversations with her. Example: her and I were watching the inaugeration. She kept talking about the attire worn by dignitaries. Asked me where we're the presidents car going? I said to theWhite house. The next day she asked if I seen the inaugeration. Not many around here for friends. The town became a place for low-lifes. I don't have the income to move. That's a bit of a long story. So more info as conversation goes on.
Hello Dan,

Hmmm, a bio in a minute:)

Do you live in Silver Springs? I've been there , didn't look like a dive, not far fro D.C.

Sorry to learn of your situation, ever try doing a little "ebay-ing"?

Sounds like you need to expand your circle of friends, and the ones who are "fair weather" types you don't need, anyway- let'em go.

A great day to ya, keep posting:)

Hi. I live in a town called Upper Darby, just next to Philadelphia. Yeah I do need to expand friendships. Unlikely to happen here. I'm using a smartphone to access the internet. Just got this phone at the beginning of this month. Been 16 months since I've been on the internet.I've been a caretaker for my mother for a year till. She died. My 2 brothers and other family. Members did very little to help. My mother reassured me that I would be living with family IF I stayed with her till she died. I stayed. No family took me in. What troubles me is I would have done so for them. Anyway I'm just stating my status.thanks. for posting to me.

Hey Dan,

Hope yer doing well today:)

Today your town showing Baltimore, where your server picks up. I know Upper Darby, been through there several times, I'm west of you ,north of Lancaster County.

Stinks when people ,especially family, don't honour their word,I take it you live alone?

Been considering a new 'smart phone' myself, have any recommendations?

You have a great day...

Those servers or ISPs,show locations a person may not live at. The smartphone I have is an LG android powered by Boostmobile. So far I'm satisfied with it. A no contract phone. I was with ConsumerCellular. I cancelled that only because I don't want anymore bills comming to my home when I'm gone from here. I still get mail for my father who died in 1981! Then I get mail addressed for other homes. It's how this neighboorhood is laidout. My home has 4 digits the stores on the same street in sight of my home have 2 digits. Two have the same house numbers. So,to help prevent ID theft, I've been eliminating mailings. S.S. I have put onto DirectExpress card-got rid of bank statements comming in the mail. As a example.

I'll take a look at Boost Mobile. I'm off contract now , have a Blackberry Torch. I'm old school - don't need it for videos or music, in short not a toy as most have become to me. It's a tool, has a touch screen w/slide away qwerty board-a feature I like. Wish I could carry it to another carrier.

I hear ya about getting mail "past it's time"- my mother got things for my father years after his death, including credit solicitations!

Direct Deposit is the way to go, can't see why some still want to feel that check:)

WHY THE FREAK do yes wanna get in touch with an old GF?? She may be married.. Maybe.
The brother had good reason NOT to..
MAYBE you NEVER wrote her.. WHILE you were fighting in the Vietnam War.
Soooo, she lost hope that you would...but you never did. Joe the gas station attendent liked her and she agree to date him and married him..they have five kids and twelve grandkids and two great grandkids..
Thus, by your contacting her WOULD really upset her..because YOU broke her heart..AND, AND you impregnated her..your parents had moved to Florida..she lost their number.. so her brother is guarding her heart.. FOR she is HAPPY.. and her hubby is raising YOUR baby..THINK ABOUT IT...soldier!!

Yeah, except the part about....the baby would be like 42 now....and we parted friends, she knew it hurt me that my dad made me leave everyone, the day after graduation....you are right about "something" happening, because she never finished at that highschool, and they must have moved.....a mystery? Now i am really hoping i had'nt done anything to really hurt her, back then....the brother was a squirrel back then, so he may still be weird...lol...

Same here. Not to much into videos-music-games on these smartphones. I do like touch screen tech. The larger screen ( about 4") compared to my last phone screen (about 2"). Even though I still don't need to wear glasses (sometimes just reading glasses). Much easier to see. And like I said before, I'm back on the internet after. 16months absense. However time on it is limited being powered by battery(when not at home) and have to plug it in for more time on internet. But that's ok., better than not having access at all. And I'm not hooked onto it like the younger generation. And I feel " not too out of step" having technology pass me by. Now I know how my parents and grandparents felt with new technical gizzmos.

while at the hospital for my mother I came across my "old girlfriend" and she was a patient in the next room to my moms. We hugged and kissed (she's since marrried) and askef my phone #. I wrote it on her lunch tray place mat. She never called. I guess the tray was taken away before she retrieved it. Her and I came close to marrying. Anyway that was something I can do without. She knows were I live- she did'nt tell me her address. I let it be. I think that any worthwhile friendships happen in school, people would remain in contact.

No I never got kicked out of school. I walked that fine line to have friends of both sides. the cool and the geeks. most since high school faded away. I explained in an earlier post about my current status. I see no one from those days. during those days we all think friends made then would be for a lifetime.

I think we all thought that, and i kinda wish i would have tried harder.....at least to make a reunion or two.....BTW, finally spoke to the old girlfriend....let's just say the memory was much better than the reality...lol...
