What is all the hype about cutting up the Costa Concordia?

It seems recently that I have come across several articles of the salvage plan of the grounded cruise ship Costa Concordia. Unfortunately as it appears, all articles that show the planned end result say that the Costa Concordia will get chopped up and scrapped. I really don't get it. The Costa Concordia really does not look all that bad at all, except for the hole in the ship's hull caused by the grounding and maybe even some interior water damage from the flooding and capsizing. Why destroy the Costa Concordia? If I were in charge of the salvage operations, instead of cutting up and scrapping the ship, I would have it repaired and put back into service. Obviously it seems that all that would have to be done is repair the hole in the hull, wash and clean any/all fabrics that got wet, replace whatever furniture and fabrics that were eaten away by mold and what not, wash and clean all the decks and walls that were under water, clean the engines, maybe even put some fresh paint on the exterior, and that's it. And then the Costa Concordia can just sail right on as if nothing ever happened.
