Spaulding must not have the ginourmous floppy lips, like some I have seen. That would be yuck, with all that slobber when they shake their heads, you'd be cleaning your walls, like every day! I have a hard time keeping up with the eye-boogers from my boxer being dried up all over my walls!
We had thought about getting a dane for a little while, everyone I know that has one thinks they are the greatest, I was just concerned about the size and life span...and then we were going to take our neighbors Dobie pup, but I think she would have been a little too much, they are very sensitive dogs, and I think more needy than my boxer.

Danes are generally wimps. I just love those eye buggers. You should see the size of his poops. They look like thoses African termite mounts. I was totally freaked about his health and consumed by this ailment called bloat. I guess if you raise them right, all is well. I don't want him to die at 8 or 9 but that is always something to consider.

Yes, and when it occurs you have three hours max to get the dog into surgery or he will DIE! We are past that but it was always on my mind.

One of my good friends had a beautiful german shepard that it happened to TWICE! The first time, they didn't realize what was wrong with him quick enough, and they had to take out almost half of his intestines, it happened again almost six months later, and they had to put him down...he was only five.

I worry about that a lot with my boxer, because he likes to play right after he eats, they say that can also cause it.

I forgot to tell you that boxers are beautiful dogs. They look so noble. Although I ran into one that looked just like "smokin' Joe Frazer".

They have grown on me! I didn't really like them at first, because of the buggy eyes,(and continuois eye boogers) but my Trinidad (he's named after Felix Trinidad) is the sweetest pup on the planet!
