Cool
We eat a lot of those in this household.
Problem is the salt in them does a number on the blood pressure.

I buy rice.
Lots of rice and we have it at least 5 times a week.
For breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We live on a very tight budget, and every penny counts.
I can very much relate to being hungry and going without all but the most basic and nutritious things you can afford.

Again thank you very much for sharing and posting here tonight.
I've seen you around in other threads and would like to extend a welcome to OB to you.

I would have to say ride. If I needed all the items and had none where I was. A ride would get me to the location of them.

Hey all ya'll!
I had forgotten making this.
Wonderful to see y'all responding.
Made my day!
To answer some Q's asked:
From JuicyLu:"You can get all those items for only $1 each?"
A. Yes!
@ the Dollar Discount stores here, all items are $1.00.
They are sometimes smaller sizes, generic or imported brands.
From The Paisan "Can't tell you because you DID NOT list the prices of the items listed.
Do that and then MAYBE I will answer the question."
----A. All items are $1.
( or .99 cents if you want to picky about sales tax, LOL)
No obligation to answer the question if you wish not to.

A few of y'all know my history...
I was thinking of all the RW changes gone through these past three years since finding "Topix".
And remembering times darker in the past.
So it was Dec. 28th a couple months ago....
The world hadn't ended as planed on my B-day.
LOL
(j/k)
Was sitting here with a headache, 1.00 $ and in need of all the items on the list;
With three days till some money was available.
That prompted the poll.
When I got no answers right away,
I ended up borrowing a cup of milk and some salt; making cookies and trading them through our apt. complex in exchange for almost everything else on the list.
Still had my $ the next day, and used it to buy gasoline for a ride.
Thank you all for your answers, and taking time out to answer the poll.
I can see you put a lot of thought into your reply's and am grateful for that too.
Do you want to do it again?
Make your own list and post it.
If ya want we can call it the survival thread.(?)
Do y'all all like that idea?
:-)'s -n- O's -n- <3's
oh.. u know i didnt really think this was a serious thread until i just read this. but i gotta say, if i had a headache it still would be the thing i would spend my dollar on, if im gonna be miserable its not going to be hurting like that. those buggers tend to get out of control real fast. hate them..
but,
i think the way u handled it was pretty great, and i hope at this point in time things are going much smoother for u.
i take my hat off to u because if i were ever in a bad situation like that, im not sure i would "survive" - as much as i hate to admit it, i depend on my loved ones around me to help me thru the bad times and lucky for me they are always there. esp hubby.
but i guess its when ur faced with these things, u find out what u are truely made of. u did well my friend!
:)

$1 store huh? That's pretty cool. Ok, I'd buy toilet paper because it's the only thing on the list I could not live without or ask to borrow.

If gas weren't so expensive..I'd say gas.

You could go to a public restroom for the rest...

You would need gas to get a job to make more $1s

Salt. It's the only thing on that list you'd die very quickly, without. For the aspirin-another lifesaver, I'd locate a black or weeping willow tree. For fire I'd find some flint-heck it's in every patch of gravel even.
Soap? I only have a dollar, being dirty is the least of my issues, lol. But there are many plants that contain glycerin and I'd locate them or their roots and scrub away.
Food wasn't on the list, but it is growing EVERYWHERE, and the native edibles are FAR MORE nutritious and most of our cultivated and store bought food.
Interesting poll, Tink!

Makes me grin ear to ear.
Let's change the situation and do it again?
OK roommates, here is our problem:
The electric company turned our power off for non-payment.
We're sitting in the dark in an all electric home.
We spent all but 5.00 yesterday stocking up our freezer with groceries.
What are we gonna do now?
( We all have 4 days before we have $$ in the house again.)
Put your thinking caps on and tell me how we're going to survive this.

I love the way you think!
Want to suggest a book I had many years ago.
I think you will like it very much.
It was named "Back To Basics" and was sold through Readers Digest or Better Homes and Gardens.
Will try to find a link where it can still be found. and get back to you.

Great Ideas!!!

Oh way too cool! Thank you. That book looks like a nice addendum to the one I have;
SAS Survival Handbook
'For any climate in any situation'
My friends call us 'preppers'....lol
But we backpack camp and hike for fun though. For close to 20 years hubby and I have taken time every year to go into the wilderness on foot, and come out days later and feeling a high I can't really explain.

Great poll Tink. Hmm. Tough question. I'm thinking of "Road Warrior" type situations. Buck won't buy you nuttin then. But OK, if civilization is still intact.I'd have to say water. Can't get by without it.

Humm good question.
Gonna make it hard and say summer.

Our temps here are pretty mild year round.
Even through winter we are "lucky" to get 10 or 15 days at or below freezing. Almost never in a row.

Summer however can have temps near or above 100 for weeks at a time.

So I call it Summer.
OK?

Hey my favorite RR!
Great plan.
Yes an essential ingredient to life.
You gave me the idea that
Water will be our next challenge.

Been missing your posts out here. <3's
Hey! Here's a paper towel, now wipe that up and go outside.
;-D)))

BTW. We are living in a house in a semi-rural urban environment. Transportation is a problem and we have a handicapped member in our group.
