It does suck! Every member of her family must be classified as a bunch of grubby greedy peons for allowing this to happen to a family member! Either that or they are all poor as Church Mice. If so, you must look at the repossessors of the property as the greedy guts involved. In any case, you would think that her family would have made every attempt possible to save her house, and her posessions! Yeah, and I don't buy this "no storage" crap! Unless she owned a castle loaded with furniture, the family could have made room 'somewhere' to preserve and protect her property.

You can bet your 'sweet bippie' that someone in the family benefitted from this ladies woes! It should be investigated, and then 'hang the guilty bastid'.

The family thought it was being lovingly witty when it advertised a toe tag sale of her belongings in the local pennysaver.

Not necessarily. Do you have any idea what happens when a persn ( usually aged) goes through this kind of sickness? If she wasnt prepared, and most likely wasnt, to have her home secured if bedridden, what could "most" anyone , family member etc do to save her belongings? It doesnt sound like anyone gained anything from this tragedgy , they secured mementos..according to the story....
This is common in the elderly , when they become chronic in their illness.. the health system/government sucks it all first..what is left goes to the family.which is usually very little...its a tragic story.. but I dont read any greed from the family..into this story.
who knows....not many details ..

That's some seriously stupid reporting.

If the council reclaimed her house, it means THEY owned it, not her.

It says so clearly enough in the link provided in the NBC article which begs the question: Why is the NBC reporter deliberately lying?

As soon as she left hospital she got new housing.

In the US she'd have been thrown out in the street.

do you remember the "Seinfeld" episode where Kramer said it was legal to loot the possessions of anyone in a coma, after only 2 days!

it is typical of bad reporting. If it is a council house it is NOT the "property" of anyone but the Council. Another one beloved of the media is the "Common- Law wife" or husband. This concept does NOT exist anywhere in common or statute law.

but as much as people complain that the government/health system sucks it all first - the fact is someone has to pay for the care of the elderly, if a family member isnt able or willing to do so, then using that persons assests first is the fair thing to do. at least thats how i see it. i know most people dont think of it that way, but when it comes down to it, greed is the motivation behind their thinking, they secretly want mommy/daddys hard earned cash saved for THEM, like somehow its their birth right - let somebody else pay for the parents care..

i actually didnt read this story. lol

Well if you had the NHS system an illness doesn't mean thats your money for life.
You can get ill in the UK without having to sell your home etc. That what our taxes pay for. But if you as a nation are against tax then what do you expect.

If her family had to do it to pay medical bills then thats your system so, basically tough.

Stop with the negativity of 'Obamacare' and you'll see that you don't have to be rich to be ill.
