Tongue and groove lumber in the 50's had 2' X 4"
metal plates in the end of each piece ('i' don't know why).
They were used as my 'bulldozer' to make roads in the dirt, sand, or lime piles for my 'metal' "Tootsietoys".

I also had a 'car carrier'(not pictured), red long nosed truck, yellow trailer with 6 Nash Rambler convertibles on it.

I still have these toys 63 years later-in usable condition.
Does that say anything about the way things use-to-be made?
