I have seen a family that rat-packed everything from 20+ years into their 3 bedroom house. You could not sit anywhere, and they barely had a spot to set anything down. Very dirty people, probably much like the ones in the article. I would never eat, drink, or touch anything that they came into contact with.

I've seen some episodes on talk shows about families like this. I normally try to watch because it makes me feel better about my own house.

this is a sing of mental illness. too bad these people can't be treated sooner. but there's no law against being a pack rat until it becomes a violation of health and fire codes.
