I love my two big maine coons (20+ lbs each)...but when they die of old age I prob won't get any more. I get too attached and their passing just depresses me too much. I'm still mourning the loss of a favorite cat that died 10 years ago.

I have a number of rescued cats, who were in a bad way when I took them in, now all neutered, spayed and well loved pets I also have a huge Silver Tabby male who I bred myself 13 years ago.
In July I had to have one of our precious pets euthanised, after a long struggle to keep her comfortable and happy. She had been with us for about 11 years. It doesn't get any easier, and as I say we have a number of them.
So I can relate to Dr_Dirty completely.
Is it worth it? Definately. Nice creatures.

My mom told me the same thing when her last cat died about 5 years ago, the sweetest one she ever had...within a year, she adopted psycho cat, that had been declawed and dumped, probably because she's a little nutty, for real she will attack you for no reason, purring one minute and eating my had the next, and the crazy little kitty who had been abandoned by her mother, she is actually starting to mellow out tho....I said the same thing when my dog died almost two years ago, it's hard to not have the unconditional love around.

These guys are gentle giants and very attached. They just turned 13 which is at the top end for longevity for maine coons. But they're healthy and don't get a lot of stress so I'm hoping they'll make it at least another couple years, the lazy buggers.

Yours sure is a cutie! Looks very relaxed and happy. I'll post mine in my avatar when I get home tonight.

I can definitely see that. I am a sucker for small, furry animals and babies and children. Innocent little ones that need love and protection...and like you say, they so willingly return that love unconditionally.

Indeed, they are. Cats and all animals. I had to give up hunting years ago because I couldn't bring myself to kill anything any more.(I'm not a PETA follower, I would defend ardently, the right of any person to hunt.)

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Libra

Your social life has a lot to offer under the Leo Moon and it would be a shame to spend too much time on your own. Venus, your life-ruler, in the sign of the Archer, is outgoing and jovial, but you're keen to make a serious effort with people you aren't normally all that keen on. Take them in your stride, and look on the bright side. There's always something to like about anyone!
