Niemöller was no different than Chamberlin.

Like most Protestant pastors, Niemöller was a national conservative, and openly supported the conservative opponents of the Weimar Republic. He even welcomed Hitler's accession to power in 1933, believing it would bring a national revival.

However, he decidedly opposed the Nazis' Aryan Paragraph. In 1936, he signed the petition of a group of Protestant churchmen that sharply criticized Nazi policies and declared the Aryan Paragraph incompatible with the Christian virtue of charity.

So, Obama says it is ok to use drones to kill American citizens that "pose a threat" but he won't call a Muslim terrorist a Muslim terrorist and hesitates to call what we normal folks recognize as terrorism, terrorism, and affords a civilian court trial to a known terrorist that actually is a threat. What, no drone treatment for Dorky Snivellev or whatever his stupid name is?(I know, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev)

The great communicator could not pass his idiot gun control through a Democrat controlled Senate, so now he has vowed to use executive orders to bypass Congress. How far will he be allowed to carry that? Even if you agree with his principles(I do not) how is it ok to bypass the Constitution and our system of Government, and to abuse power and privelege in this way?

Background checks are not part of the 2nd Ammendment.

Nor should they be. They ARE a reasonable response to ensure firearms are NOT bought/posseessed by the criminally insane or people for whom crime is a career goal. The system we use works. A little "tweaking" is all it needs,an upgrade if you will. Inclusion of the mentally ill and enforcement for violators would go a long way in putting teeth in the laws we have passed.

If you listen to the lame stream media one would get the impression that currently we do not have a background check system in place. Just walk in,lay money on the counter and walk out with a machinegun..... They are either lying their collective(as in socialist)azzes off or are being deliberately ignorant of the process. Take your pick.

It's got to be federally mandated, otherwise state and local laws will vary way too much. Much like gun laws do now - part of the problem.

We have on the books, local,State and Federal, over 20,000 gun control laws. MANY are repetitious, reworded as new laws,as public outcries for NEW more restrictive laws were voiced. Short of an outright ban we are as restricted as we can really get. Just how many "new" gun laws do we need? ENFORCE the ones we got.

Consolidating would be a better idea. I'm suprised the NRA hasn't already suggested that instead of fighting/losing/winning small insignificant battles.

So, let's just do away with all those pesky State laws and let the all knowing Federal government run everything. Makes sense to ignoranuses like you I'm sure, but not to anyone with a modicum of sense.

That ol' constitutional republic thing really bothers 'em. Too dang many people with the notion they are in control of their own destinies.

Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution states: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion"

But then they get all uppity and think THEY know what's best for 'em.

Yeah, it sure does get in the way of the current POTUS and his agenda for the minions of this great nation. Too bad for him and good for us.

First of all stop showing your age - either that or buy a Thesarus - maroon is getting a little old - and if you don't know the meaning of a word, then ask first.

Maroon - noun,(often initial capital letter) any of a group of blacks, descended from fugitive slaves of the 17th and 18th centuries, living in the West Indies and Guiana, especially in mountainous areas.

Secondly, I was fighting and protecting your rights well before you were sh*tting yellow.

Many States are not doing their due diligence in updating the National Instant Check System with the required criminal records. Also, the check system is not instant, it needs an upgrade to speed it up but the potus will not spend a dime to fix it. Gun dealers in NY have begun to refuse to do the extra background checks between private buyers, it costs them time and money and they are barred from charging extra. They are also afraid of liability issues if they perform a background check but if there is a mechanical/safety issue with the firearm they might be held responsible in some way. The ammunition shortage and gouging that is going on is a big red flag that all is not well.

If I could take it all back, knowing what I know now - I would've never fought for your rights in particular - everyone ele's ok, just not your's - I hope that makes you feel better.
