Snowden was RIGHT_ON!
He should be given the Nobel Peace Prize not the cold shoulder by US citizens.

Sorry, while securing websites I notice I doubled up, I may have to go live in Russia.
Reck'n Putin would have 'me'?
No wonder Obama don't like him...
That more than 2 terms thing does interest him though...
In September 2011, following a change in the law, Putin announced that he would seek a third, non-consecutive term as President in the 2012 presidential election, an announcement which led to large-scale protests in many Russian cities. He won the election in March 2012 and is serving an increased, six-year term.

Many of Putin's actions are regarded by the domestic opposition and foreign observers as undemocratic. The 2011 Democracy Index stated that Russia has been in "a long process of regression culminated in a move from a hybrid to an authoritarian regime" under Putin, and American diplomatic cables leaked by WikiLeaks allege that Russia has become a "virtual mafia state." Some critics describe him as a dictator, allegations which Putin adamantly denies.
(( Obama would too ))

Putin has been widely credited[by whom?] with ending the crisis of the 1990s. During Putin's first premiership and presidency (1999–2008), real incomes increased by a factor of 2.5, real wages more than tripled; unemployment and poverty more than halved and the Russians' self-assessed life satisfaction rose significantly. Putin's first presidency was marked by high economic growth: the Russian economy grew for eight straight years, seeing GDP increase by 72% in PPP (sixfold in nominal). These achievements have been ascribed by analysts to good macroeconomic management, important fiscal reforms, increasing capital inflows, access to low-cost external financing and a five-fold increase in the price of oil and gas which constitute the majority of Russian exports.

As Russia's president, Putin passed into law a flat income tax of 13%, a reduced profits tax, and new land and legal codes. As Prime Minister, Putin oversaw large scale military and police reform. His energy policy has affirmed Russia's position as an energy superpower. Putin supported high-tech industries such as the nuclear and defense industries. A rise in foreign investment contributed to a boom in such sectors as the automotive industry.
Why can't "WE" have a president like that?

Rugged Individualism
Posted: July 28, 2013 | Author: redrivka | Filed under: Uncategorized | 1 Comment »
I heard the president on the news recently, pushing his healthcare law. He was saying something to the effect that everyone should be allowed to have affordable healthcare. One can surmise from his remarks this particular group of temporary elected officials has made the determination it is the government’s job to secure such. Since it is the government’s job to ensure I have affordable healthcare, the next logical question then is, at what point should I expect the government to negotiate my mortgage rate? The price I pay for a vehicle? The cost of lodging on my family vacation? How much I pay for a pair of kid’s jeans at my neighbor’s garage sale? All of these are things for which I alone am expected to shop, conduct price comparison and make decisions based on my own, personal circumstances, using my individual judgements of risk assessment and desire to own said products. If I should ever even begin to entertain the idea of permitting the government to stick its large, offensive nose in my business of which healthcare and/or insurance I choose to either buy or not buy, then I had better be prepared for that same government to automatically assume absolutely every other area of my life is their business as well. When it comes to government, you cannot ever have your cake and eat it, too.

The rugged individualism and sovereignty of the individual is a huge part of what has made this country so unbelievably strong. Individual responsibility underscores freedom. To turn to the government as provider for anything, other than the very strictly limited number of constitutional responsibilities, is to drink poison. Government has the power to become the ultimate abuser, always working to convince us we cannot survive without them, and yet always taking more and more and more from us. It is up to us to recognize we are only mistreated by our government if we allow it. There is no way for them to force compliance upon 300 million people. If we refuse, they lose–and freedom wins. Freedom never dies because it comes from the hand of the Creator. It is our job to simply trust it and embrace it.
