There were only about 4 scheduled doubleheaders each year in the 70s but I know what you mean, the 50s and 60s had them every weekend. Had to, used only train for travel. I often wondered about the dodgers and giants back then moving to Cali, that was a real risk that paid off. Talk about a huge change.....having to go way west for a series.
yes , like the one who called me a liar on the blue law ..all stores closed , I lived it so I know ... and here is an oldie for ya ..depending on what party was in the white house ..thanksgiving was on the 3rd thurs for one and the 4th for the other... think Truman changed that to one date for all ..

I can remember the single admission scheduled doubleheaders. They seem to have died out in the mid to late 70s. I suppose the up side is more revenue for the teams by having more seperate admissions to the game, but the down side is that it lengthens the season which sometimes forces me to choose between watching a football game or a baseball game into early November when the World Series finally is completed.

Yeah but, mostly due to bad teams. They just didn't draw and there was no need to open the upper deck during the week. Since '84 attendance has been awesome. The days are long gone when we could roll up at game time and get good seats. I really miss that. Lights turned out to be a great thing for all.

Yep, all greed. I wish they'd go back to 154 games. Drop the last 8 and get the play-offs started on October 1st. Most teams aren't drawing the last week anyway.

There was that option for rain but, I'm talking about scheduled ones like Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc.

I am a Yankee fan myself and I have gone to Tropicana field a number of times to see the Yankees against the Rays. Many of the Yankee games are available on cable TV as well in Florida. For that matter, I am also a fooball Giants fan and it seems like most of the Giant games have been on either network or cable tv down here as well.

That's the great thing about WGN being a superstation (though fewer games are on 'GN now and only available locally. I've been able to keep up, out of town.

One reason we went to Comiskey as kids was to see Mantle and the Yankees. I may not like the White Sox but, it's been great having two teams.
