You arrive at a grocery store about 5 minutes before it opens. You are the only one anywhere, except the few employees inside the store. It is still dark, and they cannot see you. As you look around, you see a bank deposit bag lying on a bench where employees usually sit to smoke on breaks. It is heavy, and when you open it, it has thousands of dollars in it. It is the stores deposit from the night before. The manager set it down to let himself in.

What would YOU do?

Well, I am sure there are cameras and I would turn it in in hopes of an award. =)

This actually happened to a friend of mine. This store had two outside cameras. My buddy returned the bag to the manager, who was VERY happy to see it. The manager reported it to the local newspaper, and even though the store didn't offer a reward, the manager gave him $100. The bag contained $7400.00. And just one more thing, the vcr's that were hooked up to record on a 24 hour basis, had been disconnected the day before for repair. So there was no tape.

Knowing there were cameras I would turn it in. But only for that reason. Just being honest here.

I would have to turn it in. The guilt otherwise would drive me crazy. Damn conscience!

It would have made me think for a few, but I would have turned it in also.

A very good point. There may have been a robbery or assault taking place. We have all heard of stupid criminals making mistakes. They could have dropped the money as they led the manager inside.

I disagree! You can find SOME crooked police too, who would put t in their pocket quick enough.. you have to think this one out - as I did,
I found a purse containing around 5 hundred Euro in a Supermarket, my young grandson was with me, I brought it to the restroom to count it, as, when I peeped in, there was a PILE of notes,'Why do you have to count it in a restroom, why not do so here"
asked my young grandson, I explained, IF I was suddenly seen [by the owner who was looking for it] counting money from someone else's purse in public, I would be carted away as a robber.

Then I sent him in to a major store to put out an announcement,' A sum of money has been found' no details .. they stupidly told him,'tell her come here and hand it in' No way, for them to pocket it when I had gone??!! NO!

I went to the security desk, and told them, they asked how much was in it, I wouldn't ell them either, as I didn't trust them, I left my phone number and
said 'the ONLY one I would give the money to was the one who could tell me
TWO CLUES, that only I .. and the owner knew..(one> there was a smaller sum of money in the purse in a different currency wrapped on its own,
in a separat pocket - 2> and one of the straps had recently been cut off the purse.
believe me, it took a whole week, but the owner came forward, and cash was returned in tact, she gave me all the details...
I asked he person WHY she left it so long, she said she thought it had been a pickpocket!
Lesson, do not give up easily - try all channels first..
and a good example for a small boy !!

What does the bench look like? How old is the bench? Does it look like a sexy picnic table? I would have to think about it.

This happened to me at a bank. I found it ouside by a dumpster I used to walk by delivering newspapers. It looked like a Brinks truck was sloppy but who knows? I could have gotten away with about $10,000.00 but handed it back to the bank official and told her where I found it. She wanted to make a big of it and I said no please no big deal.

It is the way my folks raised me I guess...

If the manager who left it was a good looking woman, I'd ask her for a favor before returning it.

Pick it up & wait, because NO one would be leaving that stash right there so easily, in plain sight. I'd be waiting for Alan Fundt's son w/the Candid Camera people to come zooming in there. Then I, myself could shout: "SMILE, I'm not surprised, on Candid camera."
its very true
