"unable" ?

In 1988, Earnhardt Sr. won the Daytona 500; six years later, Jr. won it.

Considered one of the best NASCAR drivers of all time,[2] Earnhardt won a total of 76 races over the course of his career, including one Daytona 500 victory in 1998.

In this life you have to Earnhardt it; no one's going to give it to you.

10 years & that was only because of their little secret. How the hell else did Michael Waltrip win 4 races in his entire career, all 4 of them driving a DEI car on a plate track. Rumor was that DEI used a steel gasket on the intake instead of aluminum like everyone else. When the steel heated up it would warp & allow more air into the engine. Michael Waltrip couldn't win a race if he was the only car on the track.

What a collection of dumbass, ignorant haters. Not one of you knows anything about Jr. as a fact. All you peckerheads can do is express those little jealous feeling you have. Here's a REAL fact, even without a win Jr. had a great year in 2013.

Sounds like a newbie to me & someone who wasn't around when Jr & Waltrip drove for DEI. As a #24 fan who went to the tracks & got called gay for wearing "Rainbow Warrior" gear by the #3 fans, I don't hold it against Jr.. I've always felt sympathetic for Jr. When the #3 died all his fans jumped on the Jr bandwagon & they all expected instant results right away. My point was that during his years at DEI, DEI defiantly had a huge advantage on plate tracks. I've seen Jr come from at lap down at Daytona & up through the pack by himself without a left frnt fender. As for Michael Waltrip, I'll stand by my words.....Waltrip couldn't when a race even if he was the only car on the track without cheating.

Not sure who the "newbie" remark was for. I turned 70 a few days ago and went to Daytona for the 500 the first time in 1964. I've seen Richard Petty win on Dirt. I've been going to NASCAR races since I was 15 years old. In those days we went to places like Hillsborough, Hickory and the Raleigh Speedway. Jr. has always been his own person. It would have been really easy to have jumped into the 3 car and mad even more money than he has but he has not lived off his fathers fame. He made his own.

That's funny, you're earlier remark was on the level of about a 10 year old.

I understand that earlier remark of Whoyakidding. Your first post was on the level of about a 7 year old.

That poster can use track results for backup. He's been a monster on restrictor-plate races, with both DEI and Hendricks. Placed 2nd at the Daytona 500 3 times in last 5 years. Had great success at 'Dega I'll bet his daddy taught him a thing or two.

Your first post was the 'everyone' rumor variety about Earnhardt Jr.

Your later posts were better, with explanation. I can't 'defend' Mikey Waltrip in any form considering the crap they were pulling at the last race to qualify for "The Chase" in late year's season, and another revelation about fuel (the year before?].

DW informs and entertains me, but I think FOX should never have had Mikey as part of their crew.

Not an Earnhardt (either one) fanboi or hater [not a hater of any drivers or teams, really]. I AM pleased that Jr. got the win. He earned it, and has worked for it.

Why doesn't it surprise me that you "understand" a post that contains such great insight such as "dumbass, ignorant haters, peckerheads" and contains absolutely nothing relevant to the original article.

Your reading comprehension parallels the abilities of a 2nd grader. The thread title references Earnhardt Jr's last Daytona win 10 years ago and nothing about his success in 2013. 10 years ago Earnhardt drove for DEI. It's well known that DEI had a huge plate advantage at the time. As time went on & crews moved from team to team the secrets about DEI's intake manifolds got out.

As for Earnhardt's win this week, I think it was great. He showed his sincerity as he hugged each and every one of his crew.

Or perhaps Jr just inherited his Daddy's restrictor plate.

The fact it struck such a cord with you must mean you're guilty of being one of those "haters". I don't waste words, I say what I feel. You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. Jr. has earned the fans he has and though he may not be as good a driver as his father, he's a much better person. No other driver, including Jimmie Johnson, has the impact on NASCAR that Jr. has. I was watching the people in the stands while he was leading those last laps and it was total jubilation. Whether he wins a championship or not matters little to me, giving him as much respect as any other driver doe though.

About 42 of the 43 drivers deserve an immense amount of respect, the other driver - well I'm not sure about her.
Saw her in Indy cars , she wasn't good there either, at least she didn't match all the "hype"
