So are you admitting that you were wrong when you said that Germans could understand Old English?
(No, you can't keep moving the goalposts.)
Charles Idemi wrote:
You are the one moving the goal post.
You're the one who claimed that modern Germans could understand Old English. Let's stay with *that* claim. Can you defend *that* claim?
Charles Idemi wrote:
I am still standing on my words.
Then defend your claim that modern Germans can understand Old English.
Charles Idemi wrote:
Germans have an idea of old English
Nope. Don't change your claim. Stick with your original claim. Defend your original claim.

Do modern Germans *understand* Old English or not? Yes or no?

Did not say "Multiple Generations Of Other Peoples".

How many generations of Aleuts would it take?

Wrong. Dinosaurs, for the most part, were all killed in the K-T extinction event.
The only dinosaurs that survived were the smallest ones - small therapods, many of them very birdlike (covered with feathers, flight/gliding ability). These therapod dinosaurs since evolved into birds.

When People handle the word of God wrong it weems to make other people suffer profoundly enough to say God's word is responsible for the people who handle it. you seem to have suffered at the hands of those who could not live or believe His word effectively to inspire others.

And again, in the first sentence, the assumption that there's a god, and that he has a word.

I'll pass on the notion that even if that nonsense were true, that anyone should listen.

There was no Tower of Babel.

People were speaking a great variety of languages for much longer than TWICE the amount of time Bishop Ussher says your 'science book' suggests the universe has been in existance.

There was no flood to disrupt the continuity of the various civilizations that existed for many thousands of years before your flood had been assumed to have occurred.

The Bible can be a fine text to pass on wonderful lessons of Man's relationship to God. But it is not a science book, or history book.

If a person is said to "understand a language", it means that they can hear it (or read it) and know what the message means.
If a person merely "has an idea on" a language, well, you tell us. What does that actually mean?
Where is the evidence that, as you have claimed, modern Germans can *understand* Old English?
My position still stands, old English, is closer to modern German than modern English.
So, by this, the Germans will have a better understanding or idea of old English than modern English.
Is that too difficult to grasp or understand?
