Since my Mother-in-law is making it, let's see......

Main course:
1) Dry over-cooked turkey.
2) String beans that nobody eats.(But hey, it's a tradition)
3) "Special" mashed potatos....with cheese and other salty chit in it.
4) Creamed corn.....when everyone likes kernal corn.
5) "Special" homemade stuffing.....I'll have the stovetop stuffing TYVM.

Other Appetizer foods:
1) Rubbery over-cooked calamri.
2) Baked gruyere cheese in Fila dough with apricot preserves that "were such a hit" with her lady friends......Blech.
3) Warm apple cider with cinnamon and vanilla sticks.....OK, pass me the water please.
4)Belgian chocolates....yum!!!! Oh wait, they were past the expiration date and purchased at TJ Maxx.... 8-(

We eat Thanksgiving at the Grans house which means turkey, ham, white potatoes, yams, corn, green beans, stuffing w/mushrooms, stuffing w/o mushrooms, left over lasagna or ziti from a previous meal, but it's still good, home made cole slaw, baked beans, home made biscuits, home made lemon poppy seed bread, cranberry sauce, a cheese & cracker tray & veggie tray. Also, apple, pumpkin, lemon merangue & chocolate cream pies and usually chocolate cake.

turkey and ham--maybe venison, who knows.
potatoes--mashed, and hash brown
green beans--with onions and potatoes, and without
corn--whole kernel and creamed
cranberry sauce--whole and jellied
cornbread dressing
gravy
7 layer salad
rolls
and desserts--chocolate ones and fruit ones.

And whatever else someone might request.....

But Really ...... For me , I am not emotional about Thanksgiving so it will be just a regular dinner night . Growing up with my Dad and 6 siblings Dad always went to the yearly convention scheduled on Thanksgiving . So we would just eat hot dogs or anything simple us siblings could cook .

I remember as a kid, the year my parents got divorced mom couldn't afford a turkey so we had turkey tv dinners. I thought tv dinners were such a treat!

Sometimes when things "appear" not so great we tend to see the positive in challenging times . That short story shows your thankfulness . Just heart warming and sweet !
