I need to make 4 posts for tonight and gather a prop or two.

Been quiet about this whole Trayvon- George thing.
Because frankly my dears, I'm torn; and not really sure whether I give a damn or not.

When we look past all the media hype and brouhaha by lawyers and politico's it boils down to two guys F-ing with each other in the middle of the night.

Unfortunately one of them died.
A story any day or night of the week in urban America.
Culture VS. common sensibilities.

I was raised in a segregated community.
"We" lived on that side of the river,
"They" lived on the other.
This was never a topic of discussion or dissension.
As the sun rose and set every day, it was just the way it was.

Was this person sheltered from the harsher realities of life?
Yes.
Have I used racial slurs?
Yes.
Does that automatically make me a clueless guilty racist?
No.
Personally I resent the implication.

It makes me a common American, who didn't have a friend or acquaintance of a different race till I was in my teen's.
Why?
Simply because, No one of a different race/culture lived near enough or was around enough to get to know.

Then the desegregation laws were initiated.

Kids from both sides of the river were bussed to schools in other neighborhoods.
Honestly,
EVERYbody hated it.

Things got ugly fast.

At this time, in my Jr. years of high school, I was taught; and learned well; what prejudice was and how it felt.

Like anyone else's life,
this one's has been full of twists and turns
of fate and fortune,
loss and gain.

Through out it though,
I steadfastly clung to the belief that
humanity as a whole was good.
Individuals should be judged by their own merits or deeds, not by stereotypes.

But those damned stereotypes keep creeping into my Pollyanna world and breaking my rose colored glasses.

So I find myself wrestling with my conscience.
And trying very hard to find an inkling of compassion for Mr. Martin or Mr. Zimmerman.

Without shame I have to say,
it's just not there.
Not for either of them.

I do feel heartbreak for both their families.

For this one, Life is too short and fragile to waste it on hate and resentment.

Anger, yes, can be a temporary useful emotion.
Frustration, happens.
But I try not to wallow in it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Poor me.
Poor you.
I'd like to buy the world a Coke.....

As soon as I win the lottery.

Of all the people on these threads, only you and Denny know facts about my personal life that no one else does.
