My prior was:
"Does it make us proud to be Americans to know that Bush and Cheney can't travel outside the U. S., due to the very possibility that some countries might try to detain them on war criminal charges?"
I also used the word "might." Eqivocate much? Yes, Bush went to Africa, where, they might or might not have tried to detain him. We don't know whether they tried or not, do we? Your point would be?
Bush and Cheney cancelled separate trips to Canada to avoid potential war criminal charges. There were "safety" concerns that they might try to detain them there. My statement above is accurate.
Thanks for your admittedly innacurate feedback! You have a good one!
You also used the word "can't". The article I provided clearly showed that they "can", making any article saying otherwise obviously false :0)

Chilli was wrong in the fact that he OVER-stated it.
He is right, however, that Bush and Cheney may not travel "anywhere" they like. They had to chose to go ahead with their plans to travel to Siwtzerland and be arrested and tried, or ....... cancell their plans. They cancelled.
This sound's like pompous trash talking to me...and i am well aware of the horrid things Bush/Cheney did to this country and overseas...but, where do the Swiss get off thinking they can just arrest a former American President? Under what rule of international law? With his Secret Service detail in tow, it would be an absolute bloodbath......

No its not.
You said they >cant< travel outside the US.
You used the word >Might< in reference to being punished........ not traveling......
His arcticle pointed that he >Could< travel outside the US.
You have a good one also..........And please try to keep an open mind.
;0)
I'll take one last stab at this. Are there countries in which Bush and Cheney have "safety" concerns to visit, due to being retained on potential war criminal charges? Yes or no? Take your time! We'll wait...:)

My best guess is if there are charges they are filed by citizens and or groups and orginazations and not by the leaders of these countries..........

Kind of like the cessation lawsuits in the states. They really dont go anywhere..........

Those guilty (suspected) of war crimes can be detained by any country (government) and handed over to the counsel of Den Hague to be tried. I'd like to ask you how you think any war criminal has ended up in the war crimes courts of Den Hague?

As far as your blood-bath scenario goes I'm quite certain you regretted saying it the moment you hit the send button. Yes?

Others, described as war criminals, have had arrest warrants issued, prior to their being detained.....there are no warrants issued for Bush/Cheney.....Can you prove otherwise?

You are correct, the numbers don't lie, which is unfortunate for Barry.

Here are the ratios of deficit to GDP for the past five presidents:

Ronald Reagan
1981-88 4.2 %
1982-89 4.2
Average 4.2

George H. W. Bush
1989-92 4.0
1990-93 4.3
Average 4.2

Bill Clinton
1993-2000 0.8
1994-2001 0.1
Average 0.5

George W. Bush
2001-08 2.0
2002-09 3.4
Average 2.7

Barack Obama
2009-12* 9.1
2010-12 8.7
Average 8.9

http://www.guardian.co.uk/law/2011/feb/06/geo...

"Whether out of concern over the protests or the arrest warrant, it is an extraordinary development for a former US president to have his travel plans curtailed in this way, and amounts to a victory for human rights campaigners."

http://formerwhitehat.wordpress.com/2012/03/1...

"Currently, similar crimial warrants have been issued for George Bush Sr. and Jr., Donald Rumsfeld, Tony Blair, Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton and Dick Cheney; while officers of the World Court do not have jursidicton to enter the USA or Great Britain to apprehend these criminals, their travels in Europe and Southeast Asia are limited because they are subect to immediate detainment and extradiction to Belguim."

"I don't know, but I highly doubt it...?" If you could google, you'd know the answer to my question is Yes. Had you even read the Reuters article I linked above, you would have known that. You're a guy who is complacent about knowing just as much or as little as you want to, aren't you? That's so sad for you, bud!

Thanks for confirming it's a waste of time to try to have a grownup conversation with you, a juvenile guy who lacks all intellectual curiosity or honesty. Since you don't appear to even consider POVs differing from your own, I'll be ignoring your posts now. It's okay, I think no less of you now than I did three posts ago.:)

I don't mean un-Democratic in holding differing opinions. I mean referring to a man who un-Democratically ignored the Democratic system of the UN, un-Democratically lied to the world and its own population, un-Democratically (illegally)invaded Irak, as well as a string of other un-Demopcratic un-deeds.
That's a whole lot of use of the word un-Democratically! I've issues with many of Bush's actions. I've also issues with many of Obama's. That doesn't make their actions un-Democratic, does it? Did Bush gin up intel to make a case to avenge a plot against his Daddy? Probably!

I also consider Royalty in the 21st Century to be anachronistic, silly and so very 19th Century. You're from Sweden! Other than annually awarding prizes to some questionable recipients, from the inventor of dynamite, what is Sweden most noted for? Oh yeah, not much!

To paraphrase, you might want to judge not others' political leaders and their actions, lest ye and your own political leaders be judged?

Sweden is well up on the list of world democracies while the U.S. is not. We, as a highly democratic nation, critisize as it is needed - your government as well as our own. DEMOCRACY. It's in the dictionary. Look it up.

FIRST of all this forum is NOT "free", Bonzo. It is commercial.

SECOND it is NOT "American funded" for my benefit. My pop-up adverts are Swedish.

THIRD Sweden is far more democratic than the United Snakes. If it's proof you want just ask.

Now go back to bed and pull yourself.
