More people are affected by Hurricane Sandy then we will ever know. Work was curtailed down to one hour and 45 minutes because of all the devestation. I am still waiting to hear if friends are all right. Everyone knew the seriousness of it, but no one really knew the seriousness of it. They prepared, but in their hearts and minds, no one knew. One would think that nine eleven would be more then enough for hearts to endure and now this. I wish I knew why.
Vee...you know how I feel about New York. New Jersey too as it
was the first place I called home when I moved to the United States. We have had full coverage on Sky News over here and also
have Fox and Bloomberg...so know how devasting this storm has
been...so many lives lost, homes, and the destruction in it's wake.
But then came along a homeless man, standing there in the street in New York City in light clothing, a tee and a jacket, being interviewed as to his feeling on how it affected him. He stood up real tall, and proudly said 'New Yorkers are tough, we will bounce back, we always do'...and do you know, that homeless man who had been sleeping in a doorway during the appalling conditions, summed up a brave City in a few words.
God Bless him and all who are suffering at this dreadful time
in your country's history.

OVER THE YEARS I have mentioned on several occasions to be mindful of the things that you post. I told you that there are a lot of eyes scrutinizing your opinions, especially if it has anything to do with people who hold jobs in high office. For those of you who have written things about people who occupy the white house, remember, there may be knocks on your door and inquiries, Here is an example.*********News keeps getting worse for Denise Helms, the 22-year-old California woman whose racist, threatening Facebook status about President Barack Obama went viral this week. Helms has since been fired from her job at a Turlock, Calif., Cold Stone Creamery, and the Secret Service is now looking into her comments.

“Another 4 years of this (N-word),” Helms wrote on her Facebook Tuesday night.“Maybe he will get assassinated this term.”

Sacramento's Fox 40 news crew caught up with an unapologetic Helms on Wednesday.

"I didn't think it would be that big of a deal," she said. "The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don't think I'd care one bit."

Penn. teen suffering from rare sleeping disorder tired of sleeping through her life

Nicole Delien is battling a rare disorder that causes her to sleep 18 to 19 hours a day.
A Pennsylvania teen suffering from a rare “sleeping beauty” syndrome has snoozed through birthdays and holidays – and she’s tired of it.

Nicole Delien is battling Kleine-Levin syndrome, a bizarre condition that forces her to sleep 18 to 19 hours a day and leaves her in a sleepwalking state when she’s awake.

"She's never really adjusted to it," Delien’s mother, Vicki Delien, told the Chartiers Valley Patch. "She's 17 now and it really upsets her. She's missed out on a lot."

The teen has slept anywhere from 32 to 64 days in row. She once fell into a somnambulant state before Thanksgiving and didn’t wake up until well after Christmas.

Some 1,000 people suffer from Kleine-Levine, a syndrome that is incredibly difficult to diagnose given its rarity.

During her episodes, Delien is only awake for five to six hours a day. Delien battled the condition for 25 months before she was diagnosed. Doctors, at the time, thought she had West Nile virus - or epilepsy.

The disease, which is more common in males, usually appears in adolescence. At the start of each episode, the patient becomes increasingly drowsy and wakes only to eat or go to the bathroom.

"When awake, the patient’s whole demeanor is changed, often appearing “spacey” or childlike,” according to the Kleine-Levin Syndrome Foundation.“When awake he experiences confusion, disorientation, complete lack of energy (lethargy), and lack of emotions (apathy)."

The teen's episodes have lasted as long as 64 days. Delien takes medicine to cut down on the number of episodes.

But there is no cure, leaving her family in constant fear of a relapse.

“She's just a normal kid," her mother said. "She's a very happy, bubbly teenage girl who enjoys everything and tries to be happy. When she goes into an episode it just tears everything apart."
