I used to write a ton of poetry, but don't anymore. I'm still interested in it and I love reading others' poems.

Let's see your Touching, Amazing, and Funny poems. Show us what you got!

Here's one of mine to kick it off:

The fruit of the heart
is like the opening of a fragrant red rose
The hidden part of you
buried deep and longing to be exposed.

To have a taste
is to only thirst for more fire
and to surrender
your soul to the enkindled desire.

But is it prudent
to place your shadow in the light
to concede to your passion
while others may judge it not right?

Nice Scambuster. I wrote one for my boss and her lovely kids. Sorry, but I omitted the names.

Many, many moons ago,
An angel come here.
She saw a beautiful lady,
So she crept near.

"I bless thee with a gift",
The angel had said.
She moved toward _______
And placed a kiss on her head.

"Children you shall have,
All will be fair.
They will grace your heart,
You will love them with care."

Blue eyed _____ was first,
She will be smart.
Golden haired child,
Always in your heart.

________, your lil' man.
Kind he will be.
A mold of his father,
Ever loving to thee.

________ will be busy,
Into everything you say?
Ready with a smile,
As you watch him play.

_______ is your prize.
For all your hard work.
Loving angel child,
A sassy little perk.

_______ is with God.
This is sad I know.
The angels saw him,
And couldn't let him go.

May your life be happy,
In every kind of way.
An angels gift to you,
They are with you everyday.

This is one of mine...
@}-'--,---

Experimental Rats...

They put us in a great big box
Then they hide behind a screen
Watching us all as we scurry
They watch as some turn mean

They put us in a great big box
And watch us search around
They leave a vast array of treats
But each one must be found

Our activity is monitored
Throughout each working day
But when they turn the lights off
The Rats have a real field day

We watch as they bite and claw
How they rip each others tails
What can we do.. We're just mice
We squeak to no avail

They study us and they shock us
They peel back our very skin
The horror that they show us
Never seems to end

Thrown back into the big box
Lost in a brand new maze
Finding one treat worth looking for
Is harder and harder these days

One of the rats is screaming
I supposed this could be it
Nothing will be done though
No one here gives a shit

They put us in this great big box
And they watch what we do
They watch as we have dinner
They watch us as we screw

We are all good little lab mice
And experimental rats
In a laboratory run by mad scientists
Wearing big TOPixHATs.

(I think I was in high school when I wrote this. Haven't written any poetry or anything else in years. Heavy influences were Poe, Whitman, Robert W. Service and HP Lovecraft. Also, this is from memory. I think I may be missing something toward the end...but what the hey.....)

.
Twilight (c) DPC
.
Hazily the sun does fall
setting afire this hallowed hall
through yonder narrow pane
.
Lazily the placid sea
beckons once again to me
whispering, "You're insane".
.
It is the twilight of my mind.
.
All about me doors are closing
shutting out a madman's musings
laughing at my pain
.
As before I ask myself
can I heal without help
or is it happening again?
.
I am running out of time.
.
If you peer within my eyes
you will find no compromise
tempered madness, nothing more
.
And if you try to gaze too long
you may find that you belong
here, on my side of the door
.

Suddenly the quiet sea
beckons no more
.
.
it has me.

Hi Dirty I really enjoyed that poem.. I could almost hear Vincent Price reading it aloud...
:o)
I hope that you are having a good day and that you will have a fun filled weekend..
@}-'--,---
I just wrote this one a few minutes ago..

Stand Within The Rushes

I stood beside the river
Watching the ducks and geese
I saw a big fish jump straight up
and laughted at what I'd seen

The river water racing
to where, I can't be sure
So dark and full of mud now
Once her path was pure

She's mad about the boundries
The banks that hold her in
The men who have blocked her path
Who want to yet again

She's called Beautiful Water
by the tribes who knew her first
She gave them many troubles and
She satisfied their thirst

Some days when I need comfort
from lifes sneaky sucker-punches
I walk to the river, to find peace
and I Stand within the Rushes...

Very nice! I live by and fish a beautiful Oregon coast range stream here and it reminds me of that place.

I may have posted this before, but here ya go.

"Just a Sec"

I'll write some words and try to be clever
What takes a second can seem like forever
The words that I'm typing may never be read
Or they may get copied and pasted instead
It's the luck of the draw and the roll of the dice
You can fool me once, but you won't do it twice
'Cause I've been around the block a time or two
I saw the pimp and his ho and the street preacher, too
Right down the street from the daycare center
And the neighborhood park that says, "Do Not Enter"
All meshed into between the white picket fences
And the spoiled little brats with their Mercedes Benzes
A million different worlds that are all pieced together
With a lot more in common than just passing weather
If life's like a play then our minds are the stage
But we seem to get consumed by jealousy and rage
We think that we're different, but we're really the same
And there's much more to life than fortune and fame
So, I'll write down some words and try to be clever
But what takes a second can seem like forever

Thanks. Dirty.. It made me think of Skipper so I posted it on his thread.. There's just something about the river that has always called to me.. And I am scared to death of deep water so go figure.. hahaha..
I still haven't gone fishing and it's not for lack of wanting to.. I didn't know you have to have a license to fish in the river.. So I gotta get me one of those.. I just can't seem to find the time.. I mean to though and eventually I will have the chance.. then I'm Goin' Fishin'

(Boy topix sure has been goofed-up lately. I can't leave icons and the screen is all weird..)

I love any water. Grew up on the coast and now live on a river. I like fishing but I'm pretty much a catch and release guy. I just enjoy going and being on the river.

Speaking of Skip, has there been any word?

oh hell, this is completely out of my league really, but there was this wierd little short line that randomly popped up in my head suddenly one day.

it sounds alot better in swedish but i'm trying to make it look somewhat good in english as well.

"In the greatest of styles the trail goes in, and out shatten here I come."

at first i had no idea about what it meant, but after thinking about it, i eventually came up with a meaning of it! it means to be exchanged by someone or something. the "new" trail is that someone or something that goes in and takes my place, and like everyone should know, being replaced isn't glamorous! therefor i am being thrown out or "shat out" as my mind so delicatly depicted it.

I'm looking for better words to use in the translation though! tips anyone?!

My soul is like the rush of the wind

While the rush of the wind is spinning around
Touching the earth , touching the ground
With all the sighs of it's mysterious sounds

Moving the river moving the sea
Moving our souls as though we were free

I'm taken in by an open door
Where their is warmth and walls to sustain the breeze

And than it gets calm with nothing to bare
Showing no sound can't feel it's around

Will it be the same as yesterday or even tomarrow ?
No tomarrow is different and difference makes fir a change

Holding Holding Holding

Out
Getting what you want
Getting what you need

Matter of focas and time
Before your soul connects
To the dance of you

Pictures fall and fade to the ground
Old worn out frames of time

Patiently waiting
Eyes wide open

Clearly a soul to awake
The dreams forgotten , not lost
To the child within

A risk for the heart is taken

Take the Lead

Independance a solitary undertaking
distant from conventality
Uncovering novel and productive ways
to do ordinary , with extraordinary

A fine line between embracing "eccentric"
points of view and......
expressing articulately ways to reach the "norm"

The seeker feels urged to experiance beyond
the realm of the familiar

Challenged to not be caught by the reaper
of social acceptance

This poem was inspired by Van Gogh and other brillant minds trying to "fit in"

Great stuff, people! Keep it coming.

I haven't written anything in a while. Some of them are special for people so I give them to one person and one person only, never to be read by anyone else.

Has anyone else ever done the same?

I kept them all to myself until I found the topix poetry threads.
It feels nice to share because I know life is nothing but a universal stream into the hearts and minds of others.

Some are painful , some sexual , some funny and retarded , and some are enlightening.
I have gotten the most crap about the sexual ones. Written for or about a person. Why do girls get shit for that ?

Reading poetry for me is .... Inspiring good or bad ya learn from peoples perspective. I'm glad people share !!!!

Not here. While I have written a few poems over the years for the special people in my life, generally speaking, I think art should be shared and enjoyed by all.
