So you have a hot line to God? No wonder I've been on "hold" so long!

Listen Hoosier, if you talk toGod, it's called prayer. If God talks to you, it's called schizophrenia.

I'm not saying states shouldn't ratify equal rights for 'all sexes' but call it a civil union not
marriage - because it isn't!
A marriage by any other name would be as sweet. Whether it is called a civil union, a marriage or a domestic partnership, the intent and wish of a couple to symbolize their commitment to one another in a ceremony is more than ordinary. It is a part of our culture.
The dividends of marriage in the United States are to be able to sign a joint tax return, have rights toward each other should illness or death occur during the partnership and to receive company health insurance are only examples of these benefits.

You've composed this concept well, homey Hoosier; in which judges are applying "life and liberty" in some appeals courts regarding these "states rights" draconian and discriminatory bans.

Life, liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness are pertinent to individuals, and trumps "states rights" in these regards with a whole host of cases and rulings based on the U.S. Constitution with its amendments as constructed and interpreted by the highest court of the U.S. judicial system to protect those rights,

Remember my previous post that starts with " Life, liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness are pertinent to individuals, and trumps "states rights ..."

Did you read any of the explanation I posted of how the 14th Amendment was applied to concepts and groups of individuals that were previously not protected "back in the day"? Source citations are available if desired; or use as a jumping point to read other sources.

This Amendment and later ones have propelled these groups for inclusion for rights they were entitled to in the first place as American citizens. Ex-slaves, other minorities, women, AND disabled and sexual orientation.

States' rights as a logical path is a shorter one in the big picture of life, liberty, freedom, and equality.

Public and Private property are supposed to separate in a Free society. This is the big picture. Refusing service or availability on Private property infringes on nobodies rights. Forcing people to offer themselves and their Private property does.

Ultimately the government shouldn't have anything to do with any marriage. No special perks should be granted on the status. It should be purely symbolic and ceremonial and have nothing to do with the courts. Regardless if it is hetero or homo/sexual.

Do you THINK about what you spurt ?

Using Hoosier Hillbilly's words because they are so apt as applies to government and courts:

"The dividends of marriage in the United States are to be able to sign a joint tax return, have rights toward each other should illness or death occur during the partnership and to receive company health insurance are only examples of these benefits. "

I don't agree with the tax code involved with marriage. Each person should still be recognized as an individual in all matters......Health insurance benefits? whatever each should have there own or be able to add another by paying to have that person signed on.... The other things should just be handled with a legal contract signing.

Sounds like you have The answer, Mr. Cherry Picking Bible Guy.

So you want to take the legal contract of marriage and conflate it with your religious version?

Be careful what you demand there by invoking Biblical authority. There is plenty in there to show you are casting stones.
