my 2 kids and I all signed up for foodstamps in October. We get 600.00 per month for food. We have been eating Smithfield Virginia Hams at 4.99 a pound. Last week we cleaned the shelves at Krogers. We use to get 1 slice of baloney per day but now live high on the hog. We also get the buttered popcorn, most expensive.

We are all 3 getting our old filling taken out and getting new ones. This is roughly about 6 to 7,000 dollars. Can't wait. If I cut back to working 3 days, 20 hours with my pay, I will qualify for unemployment, partial, and then when I stop working I get the whole bundle. My pension money will be used for our Carnical Cruise next Summer.

I get free wireless phone and internet cause I get SNAP-Foodtamps as well as my 2 sons. The phones are free and so are the 500 minutes. Depends what State you live though. I am still voting GOP but I am going to get all I can get.

Fireman Ed, you have chosen a hilarious way to make a serious point concerning government 'handouts', I applaud your inspiration!

The Lifeline program is available to eligible consumers in selected states and territories. Actual requirements vary by state, but in general to qualify for Lifeline, subscribers must either have an income that is at or below 135% of the federal Poverty Guidelines, or participate in one of the following assistance programs:

•Medicaid
•Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps or SNAP).
•Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
•Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8).
•Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
•Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
•The National School Lunch Program's Free Lunch Program.
•Other assistance programs in your state.

I personally miss the humor about anyone that is at or below 135% of the federal Poverty Guidelines.

Oh, and by the way - Virginia ranks as the 7th richest state in the United States. I would change you IP addy to someplace like Mississippi to really add some realism to your post.
