Does anyone own or know of anyone who owns any Dapple Dachshunds? If so, have you heard of them having problems with their eyes that lead to blindness????
The people that I know that have Dapple Dachsunds are fairly well sighted. The husband wears glasses for reading but the wife does not need glasses.

I have two, a dapple and a double dapple, mother /son, she is fine as is the dapple she was bread with.

the double who is white, brown, dapple, black with blue eyes is deaf and has poor eye sight from birth

his brother who also is a dapple, Ray, is blind, five other in the litter were fine
dont bread two dapples, although I would not trade Blu for anything

I saw a web article recently that had photos of breeds today vs. how they appeared before being bred for specific traits.
The differences were astounding. In particular, the dachshund was much more stubby and I suspect less prone to spinal or other disease.
just control the weight

I find the Dapple Dachsunds to be a bit more gamey tasting than your standard Dachsund. I usually make them on Kabobs.

Do you dabble in dapples or delve deeply in digesting doxies?

I did get the dapple dachshund that I went out of town to look at; made a decision and I'm glad I did! He is little lovey and so good and house trained! He's 4 and he looks like a miniature, but very long golden retriever...only in dachshund form!
A sweet little boy!
