Tomorrow we have the full moon, that is the Thunder Moon. This is because the weather at this time of year is full of storms. The thing is not only the weather but our lives have storms, just one right after the other, so we feel helpless. We feel these things evil, or not working out of fear, yet we still turn to them when the storms come.I, myself, have lived this way for 59 years. If I have a need, a want, I do work for it, do exactly what spirit tells me to do, I light the candles, do the rituals that I need to do to gain my needs, and desires. Once I give it to the higher spirit, I walk away thinking, and doing other things, certain that a power higher than myself will do it. Here today I write the rituals I use, the way I do them, and reasons why they might not come to pass as we think in the time that we think they should. Writing the desire, the need down on paper, I set up a circle and an altar, Every faith system from ancient pagan times, to modern Christianity, has a place, a sacred place, be it a church, be it a circle outside under the moon, to honor, to praise, to worship, to petition their gods and goddesses. No matter what we call higher power, We know there is something more to help us. So we build our “church” and our altar with tools. Stones, incense , herbs, cleansing sage, sea salt, our methods always include the fire element , candles, bonfire, flame, as fire is energy, there is always a challis of water, wine, as water element flows the energy , together fire ( lightening ) + water bring energy such as electricity, so we know that in bringing all the elements, earth ( stones) fire, wind and sea, into the mix we will achieve the spiritual connection we need. There are many ways to set up our altars, our sacred places, and today we won’t discuss this but then we start our rituals. stand in the sacred circle, I hold the long glowing ember of a long fireplace match in my right hand, with the stone I was drawn to this day to help in my left hand. Typically this stone is jade, or tiger’s eye, or a crystal quartz as these are stones of power. In my circle, there is black onyx, turquoise, and other stones of protection , vervain a most sacred herb of the Celtic Druids ancestors of my tribal heritage, sage, sacred of many cultures including native American, also ancestors of my tribal culture. Other herbs will be brought in as I either light the candles for the work, or I toss them into the bonfire under the moon at midnight. Midnight is a powerful time as the doors of both worlds open wide. I call to earth, fire, air and sea, to listen to me, calling on my own deities. Using my magickal name which I do not breathe to others I know they are listening to me, ( If one is Christian you will see in the revelations that “you will be given a new name”_) Even Abrahm in the old testament was given Abraham, Isaac became “isreal” etc. the god head gave new names to the prophets of old. Then as I light the candles, I may choose some of these powders, the “draw to me” , the ‘break up,” the “control” powders or fresh herbs from my greenhouse to honor each spirit with their favorties so they will honor these requests. As I toss the herbs into the flames, I start by first turning to the east. Again not sharing exact wording, I ask the petion of the east, then going through each direction, I do the same. Then looking up as in the native American tradition of the sacred circle, we call on the heavens, the sky , the upper, then seeing the earth below bare feet , we call on the lower, lastly we stand center, strong powerful ending the ritual with thanks, praise, and belief .. Cleaning up the whole area is important as we honor mother earth. Allowing the fire to die down on its own, we honor the fire god. Blowing out the negativity with our mouth, clapping our hands to honor the wind, we ring a bell , pour the water, the wine out of the chaliss and end our ritual.
