Am doing my best. Wish it didn't bug me to see it over and over. Think it my nerves due to human events going down around me at the moment. Mostly at normal times, I just shine it on.

God...I got swiped off my feet and stuck in some strange restaurant in Chinatown. Was both spooky and fun at the same time. Have to keep on eye on Chinese females out there.. They grab you by the arm and lead you to a door. Then you get lead upstairs to a table.

To this day, I've no clue what I ate. And, don't want to guess.

Understand the feeling there.

One of the downsides of the internet and the "news" is that the bad stuff spreads faster than a wildfire.

And if you give it time, you find out that that "wildfire" was someone having a BBQ and they burned the hamburger.

And that there are people who want to pour gasoline on that BBQ so it will erupt in a wildfire. Just for kicks.

There should be no obligation in your mind to respond to every post that you disagree with. That path only leads to consuming all your time. Time where you'd rather do things you like to do instead of "correcting" others.

As for the Chinese food: yeah. I went to a Dim Sum in Boston. Some of it was quite tasty. Some I had to wrestle down my throat as I feel it's impolite to blargh it out. The luxury of not starving...

You are spot on. I guess 'correcting' folk is not really what I feel I am doing..But could be. Never thought about it. I had to leave Topix awhile back for getting into a racial fight. I don't do racial anything. But someone snapped me and I jumped bad. Therefore I took it away from me until I got my head right.

But you dearly have a point. I will do my best to remember your words.

How funny. Down the block out in San Francisco where my daughter lives is a restaurant named Dim Sum. I didn't go there, but walked by it a handful or so of times. A person has to go almost into the ocean to enjoy a smoke out there. So I became a smoking street walker for awhile. Or at best ..felt like it.

Thank you for some sound advice. As said, normally I shine it on. Just lately, been really getting under my skin. Mayhaps I am due another holiday from Topix. Time will tell.

It's up to you to determine the value that Topix is worth versus your time.

You have zero obligation to respond to any post. Even if it's a response to one of your posts.

With that said, taking a holiday and getting away from the computer sounds good to me.

I have a week off at the end of July. I wonder if I could endure that entire week with the computer completely shut down. No looking up movie listing, watching streamed shows, topix, etc.

Be an interesting experiment to see if I'm an internet addict.

How does one get to level 9 in ~2400 posts?

My guess is by exploiting the system rather than providing quality posts.

Perhaps we need to shut down Topix because one person is gaming the system.

After all, if one person scams the system then all should suffer, right?

It isn't about the posts, is about the points. Two different things.

One only needs to post 5 times a day. Is gathering up 100 threads that makes points. That and gathering up other points.

That's is nothing really. I don't play this game but I know someone who can help you. Just ask Snowden. He can get you to level 12 with just a few posts.

Does that mean 1958 will work for next year, and so on... I have no idea where to even start looking that info.

So 1958 does equal 2014. I guess leap years keep it from being a more regular pattern. The math behind that could keep you up all night....

Would people be hopping mad if holidays were standardized around the world?

For example, the first Friday of every month is a global holiday where everyone is off and can observe their particular celebration for that month.

The up side is a three day weekend 12 times a year.

The downside is that inflexible people will demand July 4th or December 25th must be a US holiday (unless if falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Floating it to the previous or next workday would be just fine).
