With the price of ammunition in the wake of the Sandy Hill Elementary school shootings, I surmise even Chicago's murder rate will recede in the coming months.
Since when does a crook BUY ammunition? They usually STEAL it, as well as guns, no?

Have you ever been to Chicago????

First of all, glad to see you really didn't jump off that roof after the election. Secondly, my point was - if ammunition is too expensive for gun owners to locate and buy, it'll be even harder for crooks to steal. Lastly, check my sceen name - what the hell do you think?

Hint: I'm 45 minutes from Chicago.

You seem to have missed "the point". Criminals will ALWAYS have guns/ammo/other "weapons" no matter how much they cost or how hard you try to ban them. Making ammunition unattainable to law abiding citizens will only create more victims.

Chicago is exhibit A.

I disagree.

The current high cost and unavailability of ammunition, high capacity magazines and semi-automatics won't stop people from buying them at a premium - but it will make them think twice about not storing and protecting them better. Chicago exhibit A is a snapshot in time and is a perfect example of mismanagement by the city and law enforcement - no surprise there, that town has been mismanaged since Jesus was a fetus.

Dude, that's like trying to prevent the sinking of The Titanic by putting a fresh coat of paint on the deck.

Hitler tried to disarm his populace too.

Appreciate if you would stop that now.

Ahem...Hitler imposed his will on innocent people. His actions have nothing to do with what I'm talking about, but nice deflection either way.

The current high pricess and unavailability of ammunition and firearms are a result of the Aurora and Sandy Hill shootings. The government had nothing to do with it.

If you don't believe me, try locating an AR or a high capacity magazine.

They will not only steal from people, but how much stuff disappears from police stores and evidence rooms? On occasion stuff even goes missing from military stores too.

how about the gubbmint showing they can enforce the illegal border jumping ban first ?

if they can't handle 11 million illegals now, then they can't handle 100 million citizens they will newly define as criminal for legally buying a legal firearm in the past.

Crying about anything won't help the situation.

Syria wouldn't be my first choice as an asylum, but you go ahead - it can't be any worse than Ohio, right?

Actually the government is partly responsible for the high price of ammo. In addition to normal military purchases , they have purchased billions of rounds for domestic agencies. DHS being the largest , but even the National Weather Service got in on the buys.

They have also cut off the importation of surplus ammo. THe DOD now has to destroy surplus components. These used to go to small companies that loaded ammunition and reloaders. Now it is sold as scrap metal.

Then the lunatic left pols open their mouth and bray as soon as they think they see an opening to implement more control over their lowly subjects.

Nice spin...but no.

I am referring to the HUGE price hikes on ammunition, semi-autos, handguns, shells, magazines in the days following the Sandy Hill incident. Even after Aurora, they were spiking uncharacteristically.

The following almost happened until reloading companys in the "US" raised so much HELL!

This week the DOD notified the owner of Georgia Arms and said that from now on the DOD will be destroying the brass - shredding it. It is no longer available to the Ammo makers - unless they just buy it in a scrap shredded condition (which they have No use for). The shredded brass is NOW going to be sold by the DOD to China as scrap metal....after the DoD pays for it to be shredded. The DOD is selling the brass to China for less money than Ammo manufacturers have been paying...plus the DOD has to pay to have the brass shredded and do all the accounting paperwork. That sure helps the US economy now, doesn't it? Sell cheaper to China - and do not sell shells

at all to a proven US business. Do ya see an agenda working here????

President Obama is going after our ammunition !!!!!

Has Glenn Beck or any of the genius's here directly blamed Obama for the high ammo prices. I mean, he wanted $10 a gallon gas to force us to walk more so, any idiot would be able to see he faking all these mass shootings to force us to go back to hammers and drunk-driving to do our killing.

"mass hysteria" --- OMG, yeah!

Well it seems the hysteria comes from the NRA/gun maker lackeys.
