Cowboy? What is wrong with those words?

Would it make you less butt hurt if I lied and said I didn't have fun?

Or was it possibly the fact that I acknowledged that things could have turned out badly even though in truth I had a lot of fun, that made you butt hurt?

Or was it that I said as a parent, I have a different prespective, that made you butt hurt?

It takes more than that. You really need to be an involved parent. My kids are screwed because I know all the tricks.
Most parents know more than they admit about what is going on. I remember things I tried to hide from my parents that they knew about all along and simply allowed me to get away with it. I admire you for being on the ball, but never underestimate a teen's cleverness. I seriously doubt you will catch absolutely everything they are up to.

All places in the world harbor idiots. Canada just owns the biggest one.
You can defend her all day, seems to me that will be a full time job. It's certainly OK in your eyes for her to make snotty comments but no one else can ..... are you really that naive?
Me grow up? before you start exhorting others to do so, perhaps you ought to take your own advice. It's not me who has had a substantial number of Topix profiles banned, BTW, I don't make snooty comments to those who don't first make them to me or others.

I can read just fine.
You said "read the law.. every state in this union.... states to be 21 of age ... to purchase and consume alcohol... in your home it is your right as a parent..."
So, you prefaced your statement by the fact that in every state in the union you need to be the age of 21 but then contrasted that general rule in every state with your erroneous belief that it was the right of parent to allow their child to drink in their home, which is not true in a number of states you were talking about.
A number of states make no distinction in terms of where someone under 21 is drinking and in those states, if you let your child drink while under the age of 21 in your home, both you as a parent and your child could be charged with a crime if you do so.
Point is, before you lecture me about what the law is (and thanks for telling me that it's not legal to drink when you are under 21 ... maybe next you can try to impress yourself by telling me the earth revolves around the sun), you might want to make sure you actually know what the law is.
no preface at , I stated a fact , period in every state of this union the legal age to purchase and consume alcohol is 21.... period fact period

I have always tried to be fair and I will disagree with Harley Hunni here as I am more concerned about prevention of injuries and death on the roads. For that reason, we need stronger controls and not weaker controls on booze consumption.

I have a friend who keeps pestering me to accompany him when he goes to bars. I will not go for three reasons. Bars are hardly happy places. It costs a lot more to drink at a bar. Last, but not least, one of us has to drive and even with a legal level of alcohol one's blood, there is an increased chance of an accident.

When it comes to health and safety issues with me, personal loyalties will always take a back seat to the well beings of others. And I hope you have a sincere concern here and not simply an ax to grind.

Yeah, you do.

So you claim. Can you say the same about your friends on Topix? And don't insult my intelligence. You get banned for over the top posting. I wouldn't believe anything you say if you swore on a stack of Bibles, having seen some of your handiwork on Topix and seeing who your friends are.

You can say period, fact, period all day, but it doesn't mean it is a fact. That sounds more like a temper tantrum to me. Did you stomp your feet as you typed that?

At the very least you were sloppy with your choice of words and left yourself open to legitimate critique, and at worst you misstated the law, which was more likely the case.

That's the noun meaning of preface. I already had to explain law to you and now have to explain grade school level grammar:

I was clearly using prefaced as a verb in that sentence. The verb form of preface means amongst other things "to make introductory remarks" or "to be preliminary to"

Actually, you were the one who was being the a$s. I have never initiated any problems with you or even had much interaction with you.

You wanted to mix it up with me and you got schooled. If my schooling you repeatedly makes me unintelligent in your opinion, then you should perhaps consider what my opinion of you is...

And I think your posts on this thread clearly demonstrate you do care what I do, since you made quiet a number of unsolicited comments about what I have done and plan to do with my own children. Why would someone who professes to not care about what I do, do such a thing?

How about this ... how about you just stop being a d1ck and we behave cordially towards each other?

And
Ask your good friend, harley-hunni, how many of HER profiles were banned (she likely can't count that high); then maybe you'll want to reconsider throwing stones at others. Of course, you aren't likely to get an honest answer from her - EVER.
Why don't you quit while you THINK you're ahead...
Why do you focus only on Harley Hunni? Bex has had her share banned as well. When you correct your own dirty tactics, then and only then will you be qualified to correct others. I am aware of what HH did in the past and it was wrong, but no more wrong than your trailing me to the sports forum for the sole purpose of icon trolling me there. Two negatives never make a positive except in Algebra and you are a poster boy example for the concept that two wrongs NEVER make a right.

Oh my folks knew. They were just worn down from raising 5 kids (my two brothers i mentioned, especially).

I always got As and Bs in school and stayed away from drugs too, which is something they cared a lot about. I wanted to have fun and while I did some stupid stuff, out of the three of us I was more responsible and tried to keep my eye on the future and goals I had. Partying wasn't the be all end all for me, but I did enjoy myself.

So, my folks were pretty hands off for me. They didn't even drop me off at college ... They were off on vacation and my good buddy drove me up with all my stuff. I didn't care ... I've always been pretty stubbornly independent anyway.

I might not catch everything. There are no guarantees to anything in life, but I know a lot of the tricks.

I plan on having talks with them too (I already have about bullying and my expectation that they will reach out to kids who are being picked on).

I think thats important ... to be engaged and share some of the things I regret or things I've seen that seemed to have tripped folks up in life and try to help them make good choices, while at the same time understanding that fun has its place too , but theres a time and a place, tho and they need to keep their eyes on the prize ... If they don't make good choices they will have a rough life ... No one is just gonna hand them the credentials and skills it takes in life to be successful ... They will have to earn them and put in the effort and keep their eye on the ball. <<< stuff like that.

For one, I do not control what people post on here, everyone is free to post what they please. That includes you and ole hourly ho-hum.
I seriously don't care what you believe, nor do I care what you seem to think I have done.
What I have not done is harassed anyone about a lost loved one, nor have I wished death or harm to anyone or their families. There are certain lines I will not cross unlike your new found northern mouth piece who BTW, insist on making derogatory remarks toward me.
Have a great day cat, I also see they removed your poll .... pity.

We can start with your inability to appreciate the difference between a verb and a noun.

Then we can turn to your sloppy choice of words and inaccurate statement of the law when lecturing me about the law.

Then there is your failure to EVEN address my post addressing your calling me cowboy while at the same time suggesting the words of mine you quoted in your cowboy post were somehow damaging to the point I was trying to make (news flash they weren't)

I could go on, but I think that's a good start, Mr. Saul Goodman.
