What is weird is the House republican's inability or refusal to pass a bill avoiding this sequester, since before the election...

Let the chips fall where they may. Why change something that was a good idea when it was voted? You can only cook the books for so long; there are no more rabbits in Obama's hat. Let TSHTF and pick up the pieces and start fresh. It's about time the sheeple see what their representatives are doing, including their mistakes.

Even wierder is people's blindspots which prevents them from seeing the repeated refusal of Harry Reid, Democrat, to allow bills onto the Senate floor which could resolve the matter.

Two, four month old, republican bills they can't agree on, and that's the best governing the House republicans have? No wonder Boehner looks so Sheepish.....

1400 days with no budget, as of today. Send em all over the cliff first, before anything else goes.

If you don't have one, there's no measure of how far you've exceeded it. Right?

Boehner knows there is no way he can get a consensus within his own party to pass another bill in the House so, of course, he has to blame the Senate instead.

It is true that Obama pushed for the sequester. It is also true that both parties voted for it. And it's obvious to most that the GOP is, once again, going to take the fall for it.

Honestly, this time, I don't think that's entirely fair. It's failure of BOTH parties to get the job done. I say we recall the lot of 'em and start over.

My vote is for no confidence.

OMG...The House has already passed TWO bills to make the spending cuts more targeted to do less harm AND Obama and the Senate have done NOTHING. Are today's version of Democrats America's "enemies within"?

True - however that was the last Congress and not this one. There's the catch - they have to start over in the House. And Boehner won't do it because, like the Plan B fiscal cliff deal he had to yank, he knows that his own base won't support it.

If Boehner REALLY had a strong hand, he'd push another bill through the House and make the Senate look bad. But he can't do it and he knows it. So, instead, he snipes from the sidelines and says "we've already done that - it's time for the Senate to act."

Many good points. Such a disaster not to have a fair minded leader in the White House.

*laugh*

If you think this is Obama's fault then you are clearly not paying attention. The GOP supported this! And they had to know if it came down to it they'd take the blame. If you're a member of the GOP party, you should be furious right now.

It doesn't help that Obama is out running around trying to scare everyone (seriously, does anyone think an 8% cut will effectively shut down all government?) though.

I don't blame Obama for this one. I blame Congress. Both sides. But I do think it's funny that, yet again, the GOP is the one who is really going to take the fall.

a message sent to all DoD personnel last week, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said “there is no mistaking that the rigid nature of the cuts forced upon this department, and their scale, will result in a serious erosion of readiness across the force.”
