Lettuce bed instructions"
3 2x8's cut 1 in 1/2 - box for bed
I use door hinges @ corners so they can be assembled with door pin.
My method of preparing the bed is to 1st plow or rototill the ground, let
it dry a day or 2 then rake it out getting clods and foreign matter removed .
In order to prevent weeds I burn the bed using tree limbs I've trimmed from
firewood or other fallen trees in the Classified Forest I have surrounding the garden. The next day I rake again and plant seeds (Lettuce, Black-Seeded Simpson)-( most tender and delicious I've found).
I use to use tobacco canvas but that's become a thing of the past. I'm sure you can find a substitute or take down your window sheers.
[ I use triple 15 or something similar to fertilize with before raking to seed ]
[ I don't think you can plant the seed too thick, I use around an ounce and a half - be your own judge]
((( Careful raking the seed in, so as not to disturb, very light, raking in 2 feet from each side/'i' use a hard tooth rake/.
&*don't forget to plant the green onions @ the same time>they'll both be ready @ the same time*
Even if there's a light frost the canvas will protect the bed and hold the moisture in. If 'i' remember correctly it's from 4 to 6 weeks before you can 'steal' the 1st batch. It stays so tender in the bed when it's pushing the canvas off it's still extra tender. To slow the growth some you might want to pull the canvas off for a short period each day after it gets that large.
*=* I've read it over, but sure I left out something_PM me if you have Q's

Sleepy? I wouldn't know! I get sleepy when I sit down......I'm always going a hundred miles a min. I'm told. I guess that explains it.

We have our own seeds we already picked out for this year, I don't know if the one you named is one of them or not.

I'm so tired of this weather! I'm running out of things to do inside. I think I'm going crazy around here.

Sally I don't know how you buy your seeds but if you can find them loose and in bulk they're cheaper and fresher.
If you try Black-Seeded Simpson you'll never use anything else.
Do you know which seeds to soak and which ones to not?
Did you know certain vegetables can't be planted next to each other or they won't produce correctly?
Google gardening can help you out on that.
Do you have an Almanac?*=* A "MUST" for gardening *=*
No offense but are you a city person or a country person-growing up?

PS: You pulled your sheers down yet?

PSS: Teasing 'i' hope you know(???)

I really don't mind it being winter. I don't "wish" it could be summer. But I still like summer more than winter. It's just that I don't care what season it is.

not il mama nature decides its time...as a kid I loved summer & hated cold weather ...as an adult I hated the heat of summer & loved cooler weather...always waiting for better days it seemed ... now (53) for a few more days, I enjoy each & every season...of course I haven't been snowed in or had constant freezing temps like some of you all...
