I also almost got evicted several times. I also almost had my car repossessed. I also think church can be boring, but the people I meet there have been life time friends. If I get a decent job again maybe I can help.

The church is paying my rent, and a lot of other expenses right now. I am only working part time.

Possible I could relocate albeit barely enough to do so. It's my only shot. Early am hour my friend texted me that he was "kicked out" and he offered me to move in with his family (not an ideal situation) is now gone. So is an effiency apt. Where a store renter told me of an available apt in the back. He lost the buisness. However, going solo for my faith has been adequite. Going to church has never been beneficial. Solo has been more a peaceful for me
I gain tranquility for a short while where in church I never attained that state.
Have you tried the Bahai religion? They are very nice people.

The Mormon church is a horrible institution. The problem is all other alternatives that I have experienced including atheism and going solo are worse for me at least. Being Born Again or being a Democrat is for people who have mental problems. It is crazy to believe we can just believe in Jesus and not have a church or do anything else and it is crazy to believe that the Government can solve all of our problems.

GD,first determine in your heart and intellect if you believe Jesus is the Son of God-God. If so,investigate the various belief systems regarding Him and come to an objective decision as to the validity of that belief system which is emperically true regardless of the subjective factors involved:how people act,do they seem good, how can it meet my material needs, what do others think,etc.. You impress me as being well versed in theological belief systems,an intellegent man. Look into Catholicism.

I been somewhat "burned out" from so many tries. The mormon missionaries promised that if I pray God will answer. No answer. Same as for the past 52 yrs. Because of the many years trying and praying just as with thiet promise-all failed. One og the reasons I have doubt what even nice church goers claim. I really want to know if God is there. Elusive a deity this God.

Mary I have a degree from a Catholic University. I admire many things about the Catholic Church, but I find the Mormon Church to be superior on all the topics you mentioned. Mary, I am being objective. The Ugaric text does not support the Trinity or Monotheism. It supports Henotheism which is closer to Mormonism. The objective evidence is closer to Mormonism. Jesus is the son of God in the flesh, but I am a son of God in the spirit.

Do you feel good when you give up sins or when you are nice to somebody? Do you feel bad when you are rude or mean to others. That is one way God talks to us. Read the Book of Mormon everyday, pray, and give up some of your sins and try to give up all your sins. Right now you really need to work on becoming economically. The answer will come. If I get a job I will send you some money. Take care friend. God talks to all of us in a different way, but most of the time it is a thought in our mind or feeling or an emotion.

There are only two religions on earth which are universal (reach out to the whole world), holy (have miracles with witnesses and have good works)and apostolic (claim to have authority from Christ through the Apostles. No other church meets all of these criteria. Orthodox churches in my opinion do not make an effort to reach the whole world. The Mormon church is superior to the Catholic church because they excel at reaching out to the whole world. They also have superior communities. These three criteria are part of the requirements from the Catholic church for being the true church.

Tell me the Mormon ward that you reside in and I will contact the Bishop and send you money through him. I won't have it for about a month. I have 3 jobs now.

Mary, I used to teach seminarians at a Catholic college. They did not think I was delusional. In fact when I left, a Catholic newspaper basically said the same thing that I did. The Mormon missionary force has just doubled to about 125,000. When Mongolia got freedom of religion and Mormons had an equal playing field, they did just as well as any other group converting people. There are now about 15000 Mongolian Mormons.

GD,say what you want about your backround and education, which appears extensive. I don't discount the inroads the lds church has made. It seems to have a great need to be acknowledge as mainstream christian, which it is not, theologically speaking. You have demonstrated that fact in past entries. Eventually the lds church's theological beliefs, history and the plagerisms and falsehoods of joseph smith will come under greater scrutiny and exposure. I feel for you. If your backround is as you say,you have made a very conscious decision to turn your back on the truth. lol.

I do not think the Mormon Church wants to be Mainstream Christian. I think it wants to be viewed as a mainstream alternative to Protestant, Evangelical, Coptic, Orthodox, or Catholic. There really is no such thing as mainstream Christian. That is a myth. Most denominations have gone so far to the right or the left that ironically the Mormons and Catholics are now the ones that are mainstream and moderate.

Americans place a premium on individuality and personal freedoms. On the surface that is desirable but it can lead a person astray. Such is the case with religion in America. Rather than submit to the teaching authority of the church(magesterium),it has been fashionable to carve or pick/choose the Jesus of one's liking. Church practices, liturgy and principals of belief, which have been preserved in Catholicism, where in place before the Gospels were ever written. Investigate the chronicals, practices and liturgy in place at the time of the apostles and their direct successors in the bishopric, such as St.Polycarp;study what was heresy and condemned and one cannot help but realize the great many heresies and false teachings which have occured over remaining centuries of church history.

There is no historical or scriptural evidence that the Bishop were to take the place of the Apostles. A Bishop is a local office. A Bishop does not have the authority to govern the whole church like an Apostle has. Mormons have apostles, written witnesses to miracles that produced these apostles, and a better organization and members who are more active and live better lives than Catholics. Catholicism is dead. It has no legitimate documents to support it. Show me the letter from Peter giving Linus authority over the whole church.
